another take on Ketoconazole

hunh - read those links and this is really intriguing... i've been developing a bit of weight around my waist lately, and my libido has decreased a bit; i figured this was due to the fact that i'm celebrating my 11th month on proscar now, and maybe this was just my hormones going through another change

i've also been having trouble sleeping, so i'm going to try cutting nizoral down to twice a week, and see if there's any difference, if not, i'll try once a week, and then not at all

if it turns out it's nizoral causing these side effects, i'll ditch it and start on some sort of copper peptides based treatment instead, as i think those will be infinitely more helpful

Sounds like you haven't read the posting about the side effects of nizoral, http://www.retaining-hair-health.com/20 ... ampoo.html it explains all about why the side effects occur.

A while back I saw a study about the use of ketoconazole shampoo that someone had posted over on HLH. Despite the intensive use of that shampoo (more than would be expected from an average user), the levels of the drug in the subjects' bloodstreams were close to the limit of what could even be detected! I find the claims at that site to be just a lot of scaremongering.

Furthermore, notice the following statement from the page at that link above: "The reason that ketonazole produces testicular atrophy is the same reason that some people find it also helps with their hair loss. Ketonazole is anti-androgenic." That demonstrates the lack of knowledge of the author. So-called "pure" antiandrogens (ones whose only effect is to block androgen receptors) certainly don't cause testicular atrophy. In fact, they would actually INCREASE the size and activity of the testes, by stimulating them to produce more testosterone. But ketoconazole certainly isn't a "pure" antiandrogen; it also interferes chemically with the production of testosterone by a mechanism unrelated to its antiandrogenic property, which explains the testicular atrophy.

Despite having been in trouble with Nizoral I would say most people should not experience any problem whatsoever.

I tend to get systemic absorption with almost everything. I couldn't leave Nizoral onto my scalp for longer than 2 minutes because otherwise it was giving me strong sides such as nausea and hypotension. I can't apply more than 0,7ml of 5% minoxidil because I get palpitations and hypotension. I once tested Nanominox-FMS with 4% Minoxidil sulfate and couldn't even apply a very low dose (0,2ml) because because minoxidil sides were killing me. Etc.

I would consider my case as a rare one.
