I've just started to taking finasteride again in much lower doses in a hope to cut out the sides but I want to have a backplan in case I have to stop taking it.

The first thing I would try if I had to stop finasteride would be azelaic acid. I know it's not been clinically proven to stop hair loss in humans but there is a decent amount of testimony from people who've had success with it. Also many treatment centres such as Belgravia have started including azelaic acid in their minoxidil formulas as a DHT inhibitor.

It's usually sold as an acne cream so if you look at online chemists and search for azelaic acid you shouldn't have any problem finding it

minoxidil and nizoral, otherwise cross your fingers. Perhaps you can try some vitamins, but whether those do anything or not is heavily debated.
