Any reliable hair loss treatments

I am approaching my mid 40s and have been suffering from hair loss for the last 20 years or so. The back of my head is ok and is quite full of hair, and it seems the majority of my hair loss is from the top of my head.

I have tried changing hair oils and shampoos, but have not seen any success in stopping this hair loss. Somebody recently suggested that I massage different types of oils such as coconut oil, sesame oil, and oliver oil into my scalp. I tried all these for a few months but still no success.

Has somebody got any different suggestions?

Thanks

Also, Nizoral shampoo will help, and these will help to enrich and support the follicles that aren't as badly affected :)

(oh, basically to fill you in the hair loss you are experiencing is probably due to your hair follicles' sensitivity to a key male hormone called DHT - just in case you weren't aware of this stuff - drugs like Propecia (generic name Finasteride) reduce DHT levels and so very often have success in slowing or stopping hair loss or even regrowing hair. There are also ways of combating DHT levels by applying things to the scalp)

Ouch. Even castration won't grow back hair. In order for that to be effective, you'd need to lop off your balls before you started balding.
Don't think I'm quite that desperate for hair yet though  the "Big Three" treatments are enough for me.

No no I don't believe that is true, I believe castration or other severe similar hormone changes will cut your testosterone and DHT down so much (and possibly consequently emphasise the affects of your estrogen) that your hair will probably just grow back, so long as the follicles are still alive.

I might be wrong, and I suppose in theory it might still fail if your follicles are very, very sensitive) but I'd imagine there's more chance of castration affecting you hormonally than genetically!! :)
