Anybody "comb over" the balding spots and is it okay with finasteride?

As per the title.

I was wondering if anybody has long/thick hair which covers over some bald spots; and using finasteride propecia?
I ask because of the 'shedding' phases. Does this suggest the hairs you use to cover with will fall out?

So if anybody has general experience with this or has any input it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd love to grow my hair out. My temples are gone, but the recession is minor & I have a small forehead. If I grew my hair long, I could cover my temples & look decent. Problem is, my crown is gone as well...like almost slick gone...So, no 'comb-overs' for me:sad:

No worries pal thanks for your reply! Appreciated.

Does nobody else do this at all then? Nothing to share?

Comb over does not look great when you are young but could be an option as you age. I believe that it would not be a problem with the shedding. Shedding does not happen with everyone who takes finasteride so it may be fine with you.

A little tip from someone who's been through it at all.

Avoid the comb over. In the long run it poses more of a crutch then it does a solution.

Cut it high, and tight, and work with it.

Nothing screams insecurity more then a comb over.

Thanks all for your replies.

I see people are fixated on the 'combover' aspect but the important question here is the relation of long hairs and finasteride shedding if any.

It's not a combover but growing the hair out naturally.

Has anybody experienced or heard of finasteride shedding wiping out the long hairs, or an overall loss in density??

It's a comb over.

It all depends if those long hairs are already being affected by AA/dht and in the early stages of miniaturization. You dont get shock loss or anything like that from finasteride so if they are healthy hairs they wont shed. finasteride can cause you to shed miniaturized hairs or hairs in the beginning though so its possible you could think they are healthy but in the early stages.

Thanks! Have you taken finasteride and experienced this yourself?

Because I'm wondering if finasteride contributes to shedding those hairs; does it shed them clean or do those miniaturized hairs grow back after time? Including overall density/thickness.

I am NW2 but I look as NW0 since I have very long hair (at waist) and I part it in the middle. So, my bald temples are perfectly covered lol.

On a side note, I probably lost my temples 4 or 5 years ago when I started to grow my hair and part it in the middle. Had I not parted it in the middle, I'd have caught the balding temples earlier and probably preserved them with finasteride. damn.

Maybe I'm having a misconception but I think the posted pictures are extreme comb overs; I mean you can use a bit the hair nearby to make the temples not so bad just don't go to an extreme and it won't be noticeable unless your hairloss is at an extreme.

Just best to keep it short since then the thinning isn't as noticeable.
