6 months on rogaine :

-huge initial shed

-fuzzy - white hair- regrowth on temples
-front - in the middle of the temples is worse (thinner hair, less hair)

shedding 50-100 hair/day

added folligen now 1 month :

-fuzzy hair on temples is impressively thicker and getting colour (still thin) for the short period of time, seeing progress every week

- front - still worse, not getting better, if I look "inside", between hairs, no signs of regrowing like on the temples

still shedding 50-100 hair/day

Questions:

- anyone had the same experience?
-is it better for me to quit rogaine?
- is it neccesarry to add an anti androgen/dht blocker even though I am using folligen? (finasteride is not an option)
-will the hair in the front get better, because the temples are regrowing -> "it is working"?

Thank you for your answers in advance!!

Going through this myself at the moment. I started big 3 around a month ago and after few weeks was glad to see temple hair coming through but now the front third of my hair has went to the dogs. Its the worst its ever been. Ive never really had a problem with lights before but i was in a well lit shop the other day and looked in a mirror and couldnt believe how thin my hair looked.

Im shedding at the moment more than any other time during my hair loss so not sure if its the minoxidil or the finasteride or both. I can only hope for now all this shedded hair is going to come back stronger. Its a horrible feeling seeing 3x more hair falling out than when i wasnt on any treatments at all.

I would guess im losing 100-300 hairs a day

fingers crossed for now....

I know, it sucks....
I think you have the initial rogaine shed and will be better in few months.
I think you have more hope than me, since it's your first month.
Good luck

this is the exact thing that occurred to me while i was using min 5% for almost a year. in the end i think it really ruined the front of the hairline while adding a little hair in the temples.

I'm now almost 1 month of the min and would like to hear from others as well...

My front left temple was a lot thinner than my right before starting minoxidil. It looked so stupid and unbalanced as the right temple was still pretty thick. Within a month the right temple thinned out a lot which actually made my hair easier to style ssmit gave better symmetry to my hairline. Now two months in I think the right has started to fill back in. The left has also filled out a little and the area where there were no hairs before seems smaller. There are quite a few small velha hairs around my hairline which is encouraging!

what kind of folligen are you using: spray, lotion or cream?
and would you say it was worth adding? I was thinking about ordering some soon.

I do like joshua does:
I am using the spray and folligen for blondes alternating.

I think it was worth adding it because the skin in the area around the hairline, which was all thin and dry from rogaine became thicker and healthier. The fuzzy regrowth on the temples from rogaine is getting thicker and is colored now, but still very thin (1 month of Folligen). I saw improvement in only 10 days and is still improving.

Shedding did not stop yet and my front still looks like crap.
Sh**, I went from slightly receeding hairline with nice looking - not very deep temples to my scalp showing a receeding middle finger(not really so bad, but it is like 3 fingers).

Still don't know if I should stop rogaine or what to do?
anyone gone through a simmilar thing?

sorry for the late response. yes i was on finasteride 1mg daily at the time of using min but its almost 2months now that i have upped the dose of finasteride to 2mg daily and discontinued using min altogether.

i think at first when the middle of ones hairline is strong and one just have temple recession at those first months because min makes some velus hairs it can really make a difference by hiding the scalp and give a better ability to style but when middle of the hairline starts to recede and becomes thin those velus hairs in the temples cant do sh*t! so ones better of not using min if it make center of hairline thin IMHO.

I agree. But I decided to give it 6 more months. So I wouldn't regret it one day. If not anything else, just to see how Folligen improves those vellous hairs

Curious, how do you apply the Folligen with the minoxidil? Joshua said he applied the Folligen first, waited about twenty minutes, then applied the minoxidil.

I asked dr. Pickart, and the newest method they suggest is :
- minoxidil
- Folligen 1 minute after minoxidil
- Emu oil for hair right after

I think it doesn't really matter, but I do this because I use emu oil too, so the oil provides better penetration for both

Spray and folligen for blondes alternating.

I stocked myself up with those and not long ago I saw that the cream has saw palmeto and some other igredients too.

So next time I might go for the cream
