Anyone Goes Back To Finasteride After On dutasteride For A While?

Today I had my passport photo taken. I can no longer deny the fact that my hair is fxxked. 10 years ago, my hair looked thick even the frontal hairline, I was on finasteride for about 8 years when that photo was taken. I continued to take finasteride, never really paid too much attention to my hairloss as it was cured.

In 2015, I learned that dutasteride was supposed to be better at reducing DHT. So I started taking dutasteride everyday instead. I went through a horrible Telogen Effluvium, still I continued taking dutasteride believing that I could ride through it. The hair that I lost during Telogen Effluvium seems to grow back, but it remains short. Especially on the frontal hairline. Overall hair is bad also.

I've been on dutasteride every day now for that past 3 years! I don't think I should continue, should I? Now I'm worried that after being on dutasteride for so long, going back to finasteride will trigger another Telogen Effluvium. Has anyone had a similar experience? ie. Going back to a supposedly weaker drug? Dutasteride has inhibited Type-1 5AR for so long, now that suddenly appearing of type-1 by going back to finasteride, will it trigger another Telogen Effluvium?

So you were on finasteride for 8 years. Did it work, any special effects. Did it lower your limbo .

Maybe gradually taper from Dutasteride to Finasteride? Remember that Dutasteride has a long duration - you shouldn't even need to take it every day.

Many people have said that actual scalp DHT isn't that much lower on Dutasteride than on Finasteride. Risk might be lower than you think, no need to panic. Just do some research.

I’d get right back on to finasteride as you’re getting on a less harsh drug that shouldn’t technically trigger a Telogen Effluvium
