once in a while i am checking this site, if someone with male pattern baldness and seborrhoic dermatitis found a cure against both or at least the oily skin. i have this for 13 years, together with diffuse thinning all over the scalp. tried all sorts of things, nizoral helps very little. typical also the build-up on the hair roots... all doctors say, there is no good sebostatic med out... any one here with some working proposition?

(tried also vit. b5 - did not work, and isotretinoine is to dangerous because of all the side effects...)

thx.

to IBM

all alcohol-based liquids (also minoxidil, i suppose) just make it worse (flaking, itching...). did you get rid of the flakes AND of the oil? totally, or just temporarily? thx.

The only medicine that shrinks the sebaceous glands and reduces sebum production is isotretinoin, fortunately in very low doses. One has to take into consideration the severity of the case and the eventual side effects that only an expert in isotretinoin could answer if they exist with such a low dose and for so limited administration.

plat,
tried isotret. already. ok, it makes the skin dry, but the side effects can be pretty bad, including various forms of hairloss (because of tgf-beta-upregulation), which is Sh*** i consider this as too dangerous :(
