Thanks for all your comments. The problem is that I need it really short to apply a regimen that consists solely of topicals.

I've had a bad response to finasteride and I've been shedding bad for a number of months. The thing is I know I will receed badly if I stop finasteride for a few months (something I need to do), but I don't want to give up on the drug. Even with a caeser style I will still have alot of 'soak-up' due to my hair and styling it will be a nightmare.

I'm going to think the matter over this week and decide over the weekend. A t the moment I'm still going to shave it. I'll let you know what I do next weekend.

I like my head shaved or with hair... when I shave it I go a #1 or #2 .. it makes me look a lot more tough.

I look kinda gangster or skinhead with a shaved head... once my half sleeve tattoos are finished I'm sure it will look even better.

But right now I've got a couple inches of length and a spiked look.

my advice is do it, your "shaped head" is due to your own perspective. You might think it looks bad but i bet a lot of other people dont. People who know u might think it doesnt look as good or maybe they think it looks better. But hey its the new you and who cares?

I've gradually shaved my head down...the most liberating thing was when I went from longish hair to hair that was maybe half an inch long. Then, as part of a fundraiser, I went completely bald. Very liberating.
I now voluntarily shave all the way down (no Bic) every month or so. It's a great way to apply topicals, and plenty of people have said it suits me. Win-win.

I do feel a little strange throwing $60/month worth of hairloss drugs at my scalp when there's no hair there, but it's kind've fun to be a walking paradox sometimes. =P

The only reason I've ever been tempted to shave my head before was so that I could apply my topicals very easliy. I've got big and dark eyebrows, so I can't imagine it would look that great on me.

Did you ever shave it?

I just shaved mine again last night, and I have to say I really, really like it. The only "hairstyle" I've ever had my entire life that looks as good is when I had it short and spiky. I also had long hair when I was 22 that many people thought looked good, but others thought looked bad. That's a similar response I get with a shaved head, but I have to say it looks 10 times better than more recent photos of me with longer hair before I knew I was thinning.

It -does- attract unwanted attention sometimes, though...people asking why you did it and what not. I'm always confident about it and say things like "simplicty", or "trying to streamline"...something flippant and casual.

I shaved my head last week, first with the 1 blade, then with no blade...

I now look like a f*****g alien.

A f*****g alien with a bald crown.

Plus I tan, so I look like a balding alien with a tan face and a pale scalp.

LOL oh sorry but you gotta laugh, I'm on the verge of shaving too and I'll be looking the same mate don't worry about that :)

I still haven't shaved it yet. The main reason why I was going to shave my head was because of a bad shed/reaction to finasteride. I was going to drop finasteride for a few months and go the topical route for a bit, then return to finasteride when my hormones had gone back to normal.

My shed seems to be stopping (fingers crossed), so its on hold for the time being.

Regards,
Warren.

i buzzed my hair down with a # 3. It doesnt look great, but it looks much better than when my hair is longer and i need a bottle of hairspray on it to keep in from blowing around in the wind. I much prefer the short hair.. no more spending 30 minutes getting it just right and covering the thinning.

Being a Norwood 6 I pretty much have to keep my remaining hair at a #1 or max #2 or it just ends up looking ridik.

look at jerry seinfeld...he is/ and has almost always has been pretty diffused but he puffs his hair up so it looks thicker....if he buzzed it down it would probably look worse....just a thought...i'm thinking that would happen to me.

actually the more i think of shaving my head now the more i remember how much the horseshoe pattern was noticable. i remember now how depressing it was to look in the mirror...at least now i have a full head of hair when i style it....people give me a wierd look when i tell them i'm balding.

however, i can't stand the itching/build up on my scalp anymore, i am sick of the side effects from propecia, and i miss doing outdoor activities! the only down fall to shaving my head is that it will be noticable that i'm balding (i have darker skin and a good shapped head so it looks fine) i'm not sure how to feel about it now. :?
