Anyone Sufferers Here Have Long Hair?

I sometimes feel little different from other posters here because everyone seems to have short, or medium length hair.

Does anyone here have hair to their shoulders or more? That is the hair I have, and I only feel comfortable with it! Only time I ever cut my hair is to get it to a little past eyebrows, then I let it grow for a year or two and start the cycle again. But with this hair loss... is it possible to cut again?

Off topic: The long hair might have made me not notice my balding for so long. I only noticed my balding after I all of a sudden had gaps in my hair. I for once, pulled my hair up and was horrified to see huge gaps in my temples! I just never even thought to look.

For anyone who has long hair, what are you experiences with hair loss, or treatments? What about hair cuts? What do you like to do? I would love to hear what others do for their hair cuts.

---

for anyone with medium length hair I have a question:

If you have temple recession (that is, norwood 2 or norwood 2.5 or whatever) does cutting your hair to your eyebrows expose your temples?

oh and here is one experience...

I am so used to parting my hair as a habit. Because you know, it would get in your eyes.

But now I am starting to notice my hand trying to part hair that doesn't exist. The hair is gone, yet my hand still had a habit of moving it. (They are just miniaturized hairs now)

It is the worst feeling in the world!

Temples? No. I have to wear my hair up for anyone to be able to detect my temples. And even if I wear my hair up, it requires enough product that some of my hair doesn't curl in a way that masks the recession (it's hard to explain but take my word that the temple recession is pretty much unnoticeable).

That said, depending on the length of my hair, the temple point recession (instead of being vertical or concave, it's convex) is very obvious on the side that I don't part my hair. This is particularly an issue with shorter hair (think ~1.5-2 inches). Usually I can mask it if my hair's medium length (though it depends). It's only an issue if I wear my hair up, and even then I can just comb some hair forward and downwards to mask it.

I have long hair. 50 cm length and the longest hair as I had it was even 70 cm.

Yeah it's fact! Long hair helps to hide the fuc**** bald areas very well.

Don't cut it.

the problem is, even if i put it to the sides (like your pic) I can now see my temples through my hair somewhat. And its only getting worse by the month. I have had my long hair to the sides like your pic for the past 5 years (23 now). I never ever ever pulled it back for anything. Only time it was back was in the shower, and I didn't have a mirror. So I never even noticed I was balding since my thick hair always hide my temples.

It just must have been thinning a lot this past year, to the point it cant hide it anymore. It feels so terrible I just don't know what to do.

I understand, but i don't understand it that you didn't have a mirror. Why didn't you have a mirror in a bathroom ?

Sorry to hear it, but if you don't want to take any meds.... you haven't any big chances to cause the regrowth hair.
Of course I respect you, this is your choice.

I have a finasteride perscription, but I am wondering, would finasteride even help if I want long hair? All Im looking for is to hide the little gaps by my temples when my hair is parted over there :p

Hi guys - I have long hair and have done since I was 15 (I'm 38 now). I put myself somewhere between NW2-2.5. Length of hair is about at man-nipple length. I've been on and off treatments for years but currently on finasteride and minoxidil. All I'm trying to do is maintain and I think it's working.

A few years ago I had a hair bleaching catastrophe which pretty much burned off most of my front hair. I was reluctant to cut it but sported a hippy like headband to hide it whilst it grew back. It's a lot better now but out of habit I wear a back headband still over the front of my forehead. I don't always wear it as the front hair is longer. It kind of stops me worrying about it. We live in a tolerant, permissive society and I've never heard anyone comment negatively about it, in fact on the contrary I only seem to get positive feedback about my hair. I get the odd 'you look like a girl' but after 20 plus years of that it means nothing. Obviously people could negatively comment behind my back but I don't care! I have a very responsible job and I wear my hair like this and it's never been an issue.

Of course different things work for different people. I aknowledge that at the age of 38 I'm doing well but since the age of 20/21 I've been on and off treatments. I also know too very well the acute distress hair loss causes.

Hope that helps

Maybe you guys will know more

What do you use to wash your hair?

Someone told me to get Keto shampoo and to try some kind of conditioner. I have always used "Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner"

If I don't use shampoo or anything with my hair and just water, you can see my temples a lot. If I use the shampoo, it becomes mostly hidden.

What should I pair with keto shampoo?

And I would love to know if anyone here is using finasteride or Min, and if they feel that it might help with people with long hair, or if it is only useful for those with shorter hair styles.

I have finasteride prescription in my house but afraid to start. Would anyone like to see some pictures of what my hair looks like?

lol finasteride and minoxidil work by helping your actual hair follicles. the length of the strand has nothing to do with their effectiveness.

From what I understand, DHT attacks hairs and every time they shed they come back but only grow shorter and shorter, until they are gone.

On my hairline, my hair are all miniaturized hairs (and getting shorter overall on average) for about .8 cm of my scalp, and behind that they are normal hair at normal lengths.

I am thinking, finasteride would help these hairs not get eliminated theoretically since the DHT would not be attacking them so much. I want to know that, if I take finasteride, would these hairs possibly stop getting shorter and shorter in their lives, or could they possibly start growing healthier and longer after sheds?

This was from two months ago:

Those short hairs I know are miniturized hairs because the rest of my hair has not been cut for over a year and the rest of my hair is long.

Further, today, all of those hairs in those pictures that are hanging down are now less than half their length.

so Im kind of wondering if I start taking finasteride, what would happen to those hairs? Because their retreat is why I can no longer hide my temples behind my long hair anymore.

Or looking for input what I should do
