this is how i do it: 1) lower your eyebrows like youre really mad 2) raise your eyebrows as high as you can 3) lower them again 4) flex the muscles in the back of your head (this is the tricky part because most ppl are not used to flexing those muscles) 5) repeat for about five minutes, twice a day.

i did this pretty consistently for about two weeks and noticed that my scalp became much more like flexible skin and not just a tight, itchy skullcap.

currently, i only do the exercise now and then when i think about it, but my scalp is still in much better shape than before.

*i don't know if this is doing anything at all to help my receding hairline or thinning hair*

but my scalp definitely feels much better than it did before, and i've experienced almost no itching or irritation from the Rogaine and Revivogen i'm using.

Can you wiggle your ears? That's what the exercise is doing. If you can learn to wiggle your ears, using the occipitalis muscles to pull back your scalp, you will be able to do the exercise.

Takes about 2 or 3 weeks to teach the muscles what to do. I do the advanced exercise, which is a bit more intense. It takes about 8 months to really get the full benefits, but it is refreshing to really work out the scalp, not using your fingers, but using 2 sets of muscles, and giving them a workout.

I'm guessing that anyone who has 1023 posts since Oct. 20. 2003 - DOES NOT HAVE A GIRLFRIEND. But keep growing that hair, buddy. Maybe someday you'll get one.

Anyone not suffering from male pattern baldness can maintain his hair for his entire life - even without scalp exercise. Sounds to me like the sperm method...
S Foote. would say that scalp exercise increases lymphatic drainage and is therefore good for your hair :D

Yes thats how i think Tom's exersise helps, and as it's free and harmless, why not!!

S Foote.

Nice. S Foote, you actually trumped Bryan in the Harvard thread. I've been following Bryan's threads for about 4 years. I thought it was imposible to trivialize him, and turn his 'Bryan' logic into a pile of doo-doo, but you successfully did. Props to you.

As one who practices Tom's exercises for a year and a half, I can tell you my hair is in amazing shape, and I was able to drop finasteride completely, and I only use minoxidil once a day, for maintenance.
PS. Toms' exercise have nothing to do with sperm. It's more about pumping bloodflow by means of the contraction of the frontalis and occipitalis muscles.

Thanks for your comments.

I am really not out to try to score points on people here, these debates shouldn't be about that, they should be about increasing information, and sorting reality from BS!

Like most people here, i have a `personal' interest in the male pattern baldness question. When i was younger i had an issue with my hair loss, and i had four scalp reductions and a lot of grafts. It was my personal experience with the longer term effects of transplantation, that lead me to question the current thinking on DHT related hair growth/loss.

My primary reason for using hair loss forums, is to try to see if anyone can `thow' anything `PROVEN' at me, that would convince `ME' that i am on the wrong track with my theory.

People come to these forums looking for answers and solutions, and it's easy to `want' to believe in a `particular' thing in these circumstances.

There is plenty of information on the net about the `TRUE' scientific process. People should `empower' themselves by learning the recognised principles before they believe what anyone has to say, including me!

Good luck.

S Foote.

Yeah, I had one scalp reduction and I think I hold the Guiness record for the highest amount of grafts. Had my first procedure in 1975. The whole experience was a big mistake and even though I can get away with it, I still wish I'd just gone bald naturally. And I also wish I'd discovered Tom's exercises before I started to lose my hair.

He looks like a demon in this picture. We should all chip in and buy his cd or even invite him to share his wisdom in real time via the forums. I don't think he comes from bloodline of balding men so his heachache excersises have probably kept him from wrinkling and growing a double chin.

I think his technique works as much as doing a *rollback would

*rollback...just as you're about to bust a nut you roll onto your back and cover your entire dome with a fresh load of alfredo sauce.. :p

Tynan, where do you find these chicks man? Its like a goldmine of hot ***.

for what its worth, tom actually says that most of his family is nearly completely bald. And that he was noticeably thinning at the front hairline (or temples i cant remember) before he tried the exercise.

he also said in an email he sent me a few months back:

....I will eventually weaken the whole human race, it is only then that 'our kind' will come from our hiding places, from our caves, from the tree tops of your municipal parks and from beneath the ground where we have been forced to live for thousands of years, it is then that we shall feed on the softened heads of humans........
