Applying Rogaine Effectively

Hi guys,

So, I'm just about to start using Rogaine/Regaine and have a question in regards to actually applying the foam.

I have short hair and use both a styling paste and hairspray which I usually do not wash out before bed and instead wait until I shower the next day, when I then wash my hair before re-styling.

My question is - does Rogaine have to be applied to completely clean and dry hair, or could I apply it whilst I still have the hair products in? This would be easier as I then wouldn't have to wash my hair late at night and could simply apply the foam before bed, and then again in the morning a couple of hours before showering.

Thanks.

Apply it to a clean scalp definitely. Some people say applying on a damp hair increases absorption and results but I don't know if this is true

Does anyone know how long fully effective absorption takes? So how long after applying the foam can I then wash my hair?

The Minoxidil already gets absorbed very quickly once you apply it to the scalp. The directions say to leave the medication on the scalp for at least four hours before washing it off, but I don't think you'll need to leave it in for that long, especially if you're using the foam version of Minoxidil.

Yeah you need if you want at least 80% absorption, foam most gets on the hairs anyway. I apply the liquid with a blunt syringe, the dropper is only useful if you have buzzed hair.

Does anyone else use a blunt syringe? I have always used the dropper that comes with the minoxidil - I order Lipogaine liquid.

Thanks for the input guys.

What about washing my hair, blow drying (which I do as part of the styling process), before immediately applying the minoxidil foam as well as the paste and hair spray straight after that? Is that likely to cause issues?

I'm just slightly concerned about fitting the application/drying/absorption process in, as I don't like to leave my house without having styled my hair, mainly due to what I perceive to be an ever weakening hairline.

I would also be interested in hearing how people apply their minoxidil foam.

Nath, I'm the same as you in that I want to style my hair before going out. After trying out a few different ways of doing this my routine is now to wash my hair, towel dry a little until its not dripping wet then apply the foam. I then leave it in my hair for 30mins or so before blow drying and then applying styling products.

I have medium length hair, which is curly. The 30/40mins I wait, means my hair is damp and so blow drying does nicely straighten it in order for me to style my now dry hair. I get up a little earlier for work to do this as I want to leave the minoxidil in my hair for the max amount of time before blow drying.
