NOTHING

This is getting depressing. I still shed the same amount daily as I have been shedding before starting propecia almost 7 months ago. My scalp is also just as irritated/itchy as it was before (Nizoral and T-Gel didn't work for me). This sucks. The only good news for me is that if this doesn't work I'll be saving almost $70 a month. I can't believe I may end up falling in the small percentage category of people who have gotten no results from finasteride. This stuff sounds scientifically sound and has proven to be effective. I just don't understand how this stuff wouldn't work on some people. It's like my body is trying to rebel against science or something...my genetics is acting like an as s h o l e right now..... :shakehead:

are you on the propecia or the proscar. Propecia is 1mg and pretty expensive also. Proscar is 5mg and costs a whole lot less but you can cut the proscar into 1/4 tabs and go up on your dose a little to 1.25mg. I heard nizoral can be itchy on your head and alot of the guys who used it changed over to Revita shampoo because its milder and does not dry out your hair and makes your hair softer and fuller and it has the same active ingredient as nizoral. Im on the big 3 hair products proscar which is finast and minoxidil and revita, thats what alot of the guys have been using. Try the foam rogaine also its alot milder they say than putting the droppler on your head, use it once a day at night before bed and see what happens. Have you talked to any doctors at all? Sorry man I feel for you and if I can help in anyway, call on me!!!!! Dennis

Thanks! All the doctor did was prescribe me Propecia (I've been to two dermatologists and both had nothing much to say about hair loss and both prescribed Propecia). I had the feeling that most dermatologists don't know much and don't give a crap about male pattern baldness. Can't really blame them, though, as there are alot of life threating diseases out there such as skin cancer that dermatologists have to worry about. I've been on Procecia for almost 7 months and plan to stick with it for at least a year. Although alot of people on these boards save money by using Proscar and cutting it into 1/4th tabs, I refuse to try that. If the doctor gave me a prescription for Propecia (1 mg. finasteride) I'd hate to mess with the dosage and end up taking 1.25 mg. of finasteride. I should definitely check with the doctor if I ever go this route. I would think that precise dosages are set for a reason. As for minoxidil, I haven't tried that yet because I've heard mixed reviews. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it but it seems like minoxidil doesn't attack the root of the problem (DHT). If finasteride doesn't work for me, I don't think minoxidil is going to make that much of an impact. From what I hear, minoxidil seems to work best when combined with finasteride (assuming the finasteride is working for you).

Sad to hear that Propecia isn't working for you, just hang in there for atleast the year. You should try a shampoo called Sebcur-T for the itchy scalp. It works for me, I hope it does for you as well.

Don't give up on it...some folks don't see results until after a year. I know it sucks right now but you'd rather it suck for a little while longer than the rest of your days as you're trying to live happily ever after. At least stay on it for another 8-10 months and see what happens. Good luck buddy.

My derm wouldnt prescribe proscar out of fear of getting in trouble he said with government regulations. I wouldnt buy proscar without a real dermatologist prescription and personally I would never buy any medication online without a real prescription because any place that does not take a real prescription has a good chance of being counterfeit and you will never know.
