Are Certain Balding Patterns More Aggressive Than Others?

Hi,

title says it all. Are certain balding patterns representative of more aggressive male pattern baldness than others? I think I have the beginnings of a 'W' pattern, both my hairline corners are thinning badly, and the very middle of my hairline has also started to thin dramatically. I've heard some people say this is signifies particularly aggressive balding that finasteride won't be able to treat (normal pattern is receding hairline corners but strong forelock). Is this true? Or is there no relationship between the pattern of balding and the probability of halting loss on finasteride?

btw: I've been 1 month on 0.625mg of finasteride per day (or equivalent of 1/4 proscar EOD), and rogaine 2x daily (although it has done nothing to slow recession/thinning in the past year).

Me too man!! Why is that worse anyway? Mine is like just above the top of my ears and then obviously rounds up to my temples. One side is worse than the other though..

I go by the itch, I feel in all male pattern baldness prone areas and it's well defined to the point of not feeling the itch at the border of the safe areas.

All right guys, 8 week (on finasteride) update:

I'm seriously freaking out and need some assurance that I should stick with what I'm doing. Around the 1-month mark of finasteride I would've sworn my hairline corners were looking better and I was getting (if not thicker hairs) at least growth of MORE miniaturised hairs in the area. Fast forward to yesterday and I literally shed about 100 hairs from all over my hairline in the space of an hour. Now I look like I am thinning badly in areas that weren't affected before starting finasteride (i.e. close to the center of my hairline). I am truly OVER this, I f**king hate hair loss

You're ultimately "doomed" in every scenario. I am unaware of any scientific evidence that suggestions any one type of male pattern baldness is objectively more aggressive than the other.

You're only option is to use "the big 3" and hope you can buy yourself enough time for the better treatments on the horizon.
