We use both because both are proven, and we don't want to not use something that is proven. But was there a study (I think I remember one) that tested each individually and in combination? I'm just wondering if I'm using nizoral shampoo 4x a week, how much extra benefit would I get from minoxidil? I like nizoral because supposedly it lasts much longer in the scalp, an it absorbs faster, or at least a much lower dose is therapudic. It also is just less messy.
Both are stimulants. I suspect nizoral stimulates by reducing the immune activity around the follicle. Who knows how minoxidil stimulates. Piroctone olamine is another good stimulant because it is very stable and lasts a long time. It is not prescription, so maybe one of those chemical companies will sell me some. I'd like to put a few grams in my shampoo, and maybe a gram in my minoxidil.
