My thoughts are:

Why would I use that if I can use Xandrox 15%?

The company is a bunch of con artists. Well..maybe not that bad...but back when they first came out they claimed all the ingreds were encapsulated..yet only the herbal ones say that in the ingreds list. They couldn't say what they claimed in their emails on their website- kept making excuses as to why they couldn't update their website to say it. Etc etc etc. There are some threads on this somewhere......

Cassin, I went back on the new formula of Spectral DNC and I noticed my hair got worse and shedding increased. I notice the stuff dried my hair out more. The retinol in it made my scalp pink and slightly inflamed. My hair improved after stopping it. I do best with Lee's and Proctor's stuff.

I have nothing against Spectral DNC. I just don't know anything about it is the thing.

I use Xandrox 15-PLUS. I don't think there is any reason to switch. I will get retin-A separately anyway. I don't know how useful the other ingredients in Spectral is.

So many choices of minoxidil these days.

I'm not terribly impressed with this product. It seems to be basically minoxidil, with a few extras thrown in. One of them is Aminexil, which Drs. Marty Sawaya and Jerry Shapiro were fairly skeptical about in their lengthy review article "Alopecia: Unapproved Treatments or Indications". Here's the final sentence from their paragraph about Aminexil: "...Again, this product needs more rigorous testing using standard FDA-approved end-points of evaluation before we will fully accept the efficacy data."

But the thing that bothers me the most about Spectral DNC is the retinol, the third item on the ingredients' list. The following astonishing statement is made about it in one of the ads: "Retinol (has been shown to improve the absorption and effectiveness of Minoxidil; Minoxidil and Retinol is often prescribed together by dermatologists)." HUH?? Retinol is just another name for vitamin A! Are they trying to fool people into thinking that Spectral DNC contains Retin-A (which would make it a prescription-only product), or are they too stupid themselves to know the difference between retinol and Retin-A? :dunno: Either way, that's a deal-breaker for me: they're either too stupid, or too dishonest for me to trust them.

I would not normally post pictures but I wouldnt want anyone else to go through what I have gone through. Here's a summary. Hair loss got to a bad place by Aug 2009 so I decided to try my last option--Spectral DNC. Started using in 8/09. Within 2 weeks--had a crazy shed. By Dec most of my hair grew back. Some of you might chime in and not believe but the pictures show. Then in late Jan 2010 they change the formula...my hair starts rapidly falling out. I contact the company and they say nothing major changed. They send me other formulations. All I ever wanted was the one I was using but for some reason they couldnt get it right. Anyway 3 months later and my hair is all falling out and it is as if I never had treatment in Aug 2009. First pic from aug 2009 b4 treatment. Next pic is Oc 09 during treatment...you can see yellow on scalp. Next 3 pics are from Xmas 09 and Jan 10 just b4 I started their newest formulation and last pics are from this week. Final pics are from today 5/10 and only show some of the loss. It's much worse than it looks. I have been in constant contact with Daniel Kheshin who is there research director and I have not had any positive results since they stopped producing the old formulation. This is the lowest point in my entire life.

I just posted this with pictures on hairlosshelp.com. I would repost with pics but it's a challenge...just go there n see for yourself

FYI I would pay pretty good money for anyone who has an older batch of spectral they arent using as long as it is yellow, cloudy, fragrant and dried like hairspray

I've been on spectral DNC for amost a month now and at least for myself Ive experienced no difference in the amount of hair I usual shed, surprisingly. But that could be because Ive been using spironolactone for about a year and also previous to spectral DNC, Id been using Prox-n and spectral RS for half a year...

As you know i managed to stay way from minoxidil almost all the time (slight experience in 2005-2006 with dre Klein remox and when Min Agente apeared), and Fina (that i used for 2 years) for more than 2 years now..i've been using lot's of stuff Elsom topicals, Hair signals, Foli Pilose...i'm giving them 6-12 months use, so i can have some ideia of efficacy, none of them gave me visible regrowth, but they helped mantained my hair to a point that since 2007-2008, i almost have the same number of hair, so i can say that in that point they showed results, i also using inneov men internal, (mixture of green tea, OPC's, Phytosterols from pine, Taurine and Zinc from L'Oreal and nestle) i'm almost 38 and definitly am entering in a very acute stage of male pattern baldness, so to have suceeded in mataining is already a big win for me.

But cause we never satisfied, i decided to give minoxidil based prodcuts another go, and i was sceptical between nanominox, spectral dnc-l, xandrox and min agent..i decided for the last one, cause altough having more than minoxidil, it doesn't have so many ingredients as Spectral, and therefore reduces the chance i might have to have a bad reaction to any of them (i have a very sensitive scalp)..It has (what it seems) nanoencapsulated minoxidil, CP's, Kopexil (Aminexil) and Procapil..all of them have some more or less serious studies behind them, and most important for me, ingredients that i already tried before, one way or the other...i'm one month on using and all i can say is that till now, i'm not sorry that i choose Agent, cause it didn't cause me anything bad..no bad reactions, no sheding, easy to applly, leaves hair not so bad, pumper now works with no prob...so phase 1 is passed, now let's see if the most important phase REGROWTH it's achieved..and i don't mean, at all cost, cause i don't want to pass by periods of scalp bad reaction, increased shedings...i want a product that gives me regrowth and mantains my scalp health, and not to end worst than in the baseline of my experience. So far so good, but let's see...

Yes i know that this thread is about Spectral, but since Agent is often considered as a similar product, i thought i could share the experience.

I think that's the thing right there. Spectral seems to have been better in the past, I hear nothing but bad stories about the new formulation.

Nanominox seems like a much better choice these days, but that might change if they rework Spectral again.

Alternatively, I would imagine using a minoxidil solution followed by Spectral RS might get the same effect or close as the older DNC, as RS has the same consistency as you just described mikey, just without the minoxidil.

I find the number of people who have said this especially over at HLH quite baffling. People have emailed, and DS labs replied saying they really have changed very little only added retinol and tried to make less yellow or some jazz.

Its a shame hopefully they change it back to there supposedly more effective formula. Although i do find spectral dnc-l the same as described by mikeysego ^ fragrant, yellow, dries like hairspray etc.

As a side note there marketing is pretty clever (not talking about there flashy packaging) but how they talk about dnc-l being more suited for Norwood 4-6 with advanced baldness because the formula is 'amazing at regrowing hair.'
- anyone with any amount of hairloss would want the strongest chance of regrowth (thats how they sucked me in, i figured if it can maybe regrow hair on shiny Norwood 5's then surely it can grow some of my NW2.5 temples) Yet to see these 'amazing results' but i guess it's only been just over a month. Will keep you informed

Ive used it for about a year and half, the spray and DNC L
I stopped for like 2 months when I was living with what u c to ur left, cuz it "smelled sooooooo yucky."

Anyways Ive been using both xandrox 15 and spectral dnc-L (the yellow cream) for about a solid 5 months now and I have defintley noticed regrowth especially among my hairline.

I also use trincomin, the blue copper peptide spray, and rogaine foam in the middle of night. I set my alarm so get an extra application of minoxidil in.
I also take propecia and hair vitamins.

I dont have pics and never will but this IS working for me. I have regrown a significant amount of hair!
Again I can not say it just the DNC is working for me and truthfully i do not really care which is main product that works, as long as I get hair regrowing back - I'm happy.

I have also noticed that the retinol makes my scalp hairline red and itchy at times. However, this is usually a good thing, cuz it heals, and for whatever reason, hair tends to regrow in the spot that was previously red. I use the spironolactone cream 5% to make redness heal

my 2 cents

And yes they CONSTANTLY change the formula from orange to yellow to yellow orange with little balls in it.
I just hate it when the squitter doesnt work...
I also apply more than they say to, especially at night.
Its impossible to rock this stuff on u r head during the day tho, too smelly, to greasy, too yellow!

Firstly well done on your regrowth, and well done for living with what i see on my left. Shes bangin
Man your regimes pretty much the same as mine then, except with the strange midnight foam app. Wateva works i guess

Do you alternate 15plus and dnc-l on hairline each night?

I think it smells pretty good/ kind of like womans cosmeticish so dont know why she would complain about it

How long did it take for you to see results and how much had you receded? , thanks for sharing mate

thank you she's pretty.... but she pretty expensive too lol

i just figure if get as applications on minoxidil onto my scalp - the better the results

i use the xandrox 15 1st then apply the dnc-l cream
i figure its better to use the xandrox 1st cuz higher in minoxidil, then go with lower minoxidil in the dnc-l with all its other stuff to really get into my scalp.

again, im no scientist and this might me be wrong, but it is working for me
