hey for Assignment Zero next time you check this, do you think dying your hair had any effect on your hair loss? I'm thinking about dying mine a little darker to see how it looks, are there any natural dyes that won't damage the hair?

Your hair loss is very similar to mine.

Wow, few questions.
Any sideeffects to any treatments? mainly sexual?
also, how much proscar per day? 1/4 of a tablet?
cheers

Hey,

No side effects!!! :D I think I had some brain fog when I took my 1/5th proscar in the morning so now I take it at night and have no problems.

I didn't really notice any change to my hair until after about 2-3 months in I decided to look at my top and coulnd't believe how much it filled in.

Just stick to your regimens!!

Also, I no longer take MSM. MSM is intended for joint pain but it also makes your hair grow FASTER. Not healthier or thicker...faster. I didn't really see any benefits from it so I've stopped using it.

However, I still swear by Nizoral. I love that stuff. My scalp used to be so red and now it's completely white! I attest that to Nizoral as I was using it for about 3months prior to going on treatments.

In those 3 months, when a hair fell out of my head you could see that from the root to the tip my hair got thicker. This didn't stop male pattern baldness but it did make my hair healthier. I would highly recommend it!

No side effects....wow! Mine is so similar to yours was its untrue.

Where are the best places to buy proscar from? I really am bad at finding this stuff on the internet. haha

Re: Assignment's Story (Jan 2009 update - p.10)

What is going on gourmetstylewellness.com???

So as mentioned in a few posts above, in September 2007 I went on a 10-day vacation and didn't bring my foam. When I got back home, I started using the foam in the mornings and nights, pretty much everyday (I think I missed 3-4 applications in about 12 months).

However, about 3-4 months in, I noticed I started to shed. Didn't think much of it since it was probably b/c I missed 10 days of application while on vacation.

Low and behold however, this shed has now been going on for 1year+ (even while still applying the foam twice daily and taking proscar). This past month, it has been the worst shed since a long long time.

As you can see from the pics below taken today, I've lost all I regrew. The only reason I can think this occurred is becasue I didn't use the foam for 10 days as I don't think it would be due to anything else.

Here are some pics:

As you can see, I am back to square one, where I was when I wasn't using any meds for male pattern baldness.

So to you members, what is my next step? Obviously, the meds have lost their effect on my male pattern baldness. I really don't know why the meds don't want to work the second time around...? I am already on proscar so I can't add that to my regime. The only thing I can think of is getting some 12.5% or 15% minoxidil. I had great success with minoxidil before and it was the reason for my loss so maybe a higher concentration will work...???

I'm not too sure - what do you guys think?

Other than that...I still go out and get drunk with my friends and I play intramural basketball so I don't let male pattern baldness affect me at all. Does it suck? Of course it does because who wants to be 23-24 years old and balding...no one.

However, after going through male pattern baldness the "second" time (now) it really is a lot easier to handle. I've come to accept it and let it be. But still, if I can do something about it I will try..like anyone else on here would.

One piece of advise I can give to everyone - STAY ON YOUR MEDS LOL!!

AssignmentZero

I don't come on here often anymore so I don't check my inbox (but maybe now I will :]) If anyone wants to email me about anything at all feel free - [email protected]

Oh and what happened to dietcola...that kid was awesome.

Re: Assignment's Story

f***, that's horrible man.

I read a study somewhere that only after 14 days of stopping use does it start having any effect (For foam).

You're doing all you can but male pattern baldness is still overpowering the meds, which really sucks. I guess you can try the higher concentration of minoxidil, or dutas?

Yeah...the thing is that my male pattern baldness was a really aggressive one. I started losing hair at 18 years old and at 21 it looked like it does today (and now I'm 23, almost 24) so at least I was able to maintain with 5% foam and proscar (no sides).

However, this thread has just given me hope :D:D

viewtopic.php?f=42&t=48035&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=20

Seems like Dr. Lee is very legit.

I checked the prices for 12.5 and 15% minoxidil a week ago and it was $67 for a 125mL bottle but I thought it was only for 1 month (which I wouldn't buy b/c I don't want to waste that much on male pattern baldness - I'd rather live with it)...but now I've realized that $67 is for 2 months - which pretty much is that same as buying Rogaine Foam 5% for 2 months...

I might do the 12.5% morning and 15% night combo but am still debating.

I'll definitely be doing my research for the next few days/weeks before making a decision.

Re: Assignment's Story

Unfortunately, I don't think your 2 weeks of not using the foam did any damage. You just unfortunately have aggressive case of male pattern baldness, that is at the time of the year where it is accelerating again. I think minoxidil loses its effectiveness after about 3 years or maybe sooner for some people. All the gains, I made from minoxidil dwindled after about 3 years using it. I have accelerated loss in the last 9 months. And about 3 weeks ago I was having massive shedding in the shower. You may be in the middle of a synchronized shed too. I am hoping I am. Maybe, we both will get lucky in about 3 to 6 months, maybe things will thicken up again.

How about adding Xandrox 15%? last page.

Re: Assignment's Story

Yeah, there's no way missing just a few applications of minoxidil caused all that shedding. Its simply very aggressive hair loss that eventually overpowered the medication.

That's pretty substantial loss, but like you said - you're simply back to square one. And you've got a good attitude about it, which is the most important thing. I think if we all thought about hair loss like you, this forum wouldn't need to exist :)

Higher dose minoxidil might work for you to a degree though - it's worth a shot. I wouldn't give up on the Proscar until you give the 15% atleast a year though - otherwise you're wasting your time.

Do you think you could possible reverse things with Xandrox15? The problem with that is you use 15 percent and build a tolerance to that and then you will need to go to 20 percent in a few years just to maintain? However, I am curious to see if you stop using minoxidil and restart it,if you can bring back all the hair you lost when you stopped.

Re: Assignment's Story

Thats really depressing =(. In your last update your hair looked great! it was an inspiration for me to get on meds but to think they can only last for a short period of time....is it even worth it. /sigh

Do you think your proscar could have been fake?
