Well, 4 months is not much, but I am concerned about the lack of thickening. First off, can you clarify what you mean by 'thinner'.. do you mean thinner in that your hair count is going down, or do you mean thinner in terms of the individual hair shafts getting thinner?
If you mean thinner in terms of numbers of hairshafts going down, I am not surprised and would very strongly remind you that it takes more time. However, I would expect to see some thickening of the existing hair shafts by the month 4 mark. Are you seeing ANY signs of minoxidil impact? Do you have any new 'sprouts' in once balding areas?
I think my haircount has went down, but some of the hair follicules are thicker so it sort of makes up for it. I ecspecially notice this when my hair is wet... It thickens out alot when it dries.
I've been on minoxidil since 5/13/03, and my hair has gotten thinner in the last year. It looks like I just don't respond. However, I'm afraid to stop, since I can't know for sure if it's having some kind of slowdown effect. What's odd is that immediately after starting, I had a two-week shed, which is supposed to be a positive sign. But all that happened was a dramatic slowing of loss for three months, which I think now was just a coincidence.
I just started finasteride and nizoral, so hopefully this will make a difference.
