When you think about it he had a pretty good case. I've been saying for years that I have been disabled by my hair loss. In fact i've started up a group on Facebook after this asking the question we all want answering.

It's called "Baldness: Where's the government aid?"

Feel free to join guys.

a lot of those kids are goping to feel real guilty when they start losin their own hair, but what i find odd is that at 61,do these kids will have relatives that are as bald as the teacher .

plus i went boozing in glasgow about 2 years ago and they where so many baldies it was unbelievable,i do feel for the teacher it is not nice to go through what he has ,especially as he is sensitive about it

Lol good on him for trying though. I think its quite amuzing. Just goes to show you how well male pattern baldness is accepted in society these days, but its only ok if you're the one not suffering from it!

Jeebus you'd think at the age of 61 guy would have learnt to handle a bit of pisstaking. What a pussy.

It's not as outlandish as it seems. Clinical depression can be classed as a disability and I think it's more than possible to become depressed about one's hair loss.

Still as far as taking the piss is concerned it wouldn't surprise me if he is taking the piss himself.

darn! wth with being bald?

But to use baldness to discriminate people is really God**** irritating.

What the judge said was the platonic ideal of common sense:

Tribunal judge Robert Gall said that because Mr Campbell's baldness was used by others to taunt him, it did not mean it was a disability.

He said: "It seems to me it would be to take the definition of impairment too far.

"If baldness was to be regarded as an impairment then perhaps a physical feature such as a big nose, big ears or being smaller than average height might of themselves be regarded as an impairment under the DDA.

"That, to me, cannot be right looking to the DDA, the guidance and relevant case law.''

Besides, everyone knows what kids are like - it's not like they've morphed into some new kind of feral breed. Complaining that your kids take the piss is a bit like joining the army and complaining about being shot at.

i think we all know what really happened here.

this guy was a wanker, and the kids picked on the first available thing they could. if he had a full head of hair they would have picked on his weird arse frog shaped mouth, or the piss arse car he probably drives. i'd bet considerable amounts of money that there are other bald teachers at that school that none of the kids made fun, because they were respected by the kids. respect is earned through how you treat those around you, not through frivolous lawsuits.

Yeah I remember I've had numerous bald teachers yet none of them got teased for it, not behind their backs and definitely not face to face. Usually the bald teachers were the coolest of the bunch though, so that could have helped too. Actually back in high school I had a history teacher who was both totally bald and had a speech impediment. Guess how many times I heard he got teased for either of the "flaws"? 0. He was so cool and funny and everyone liked him so no one felt the need to mock him. Goes to show that it does pay off to be nice to people, whether you're bald or not.

See, I don't agree with what he did. I mean he IS 61. At the same time, if it were me, I would just make fun of the students or spit on them. Provoke them into attacking me, then smack the crap out of them. :D

I'm a bit splintered on this, it does seem slightly ridiculous. But on another hand, People my age can be complete dicks, I've been one so I can see how this guy may have been ridiculed to the point of it interfering with his job. It isn't as if young people are the only ones who should be allowed to feel sorry for themselves over hairloss. Maybe this guy was really was just a bloody fool like "powersam" said, Maybe it could have been any number of things. But I have seen teachers get ridiculed over their looks, whether it be baldness or overweight, maybe they have bad teeth, whatever, And I'm not surprised some of them are bothered by it.

I'm not going to resign to saying this guy was just a pussy and having that explain the whole situation.

If you decide to be a teacher you should be prepared to handle situations like this.

Both are at fault. Teenagers for being total dicks and the teacher for being too sensitive. I feel for him though. I mean were all human beings and have feelings although kids don't see their teachers as such.
