Balding At 19 And Depressed About It... *sighs*

Well, I'm 19, almost 20, so I should be done, no? I still sound like a boy/woman (I've heard both), but I'm pretty sure I'm already done with the voice change and everything else that comes with puberty.

And maybe I will. It's just relatively expensive.

Like I said, I would avoid the Finasteride, as it can have some serious side effects. Try Rogaine, that seems to be helping my son, and it's not as expensive.

Do not take Finasteride!!!! My son (29) stopped taking it after 3 months and has been suffering from low libido, depression and anxiety. This drug needs to be taken off the market!

Rogaine won't do much without finasteride. Most side effects are mind over matter. Most that experience side effects just think they're experiencing it.

Slight receeding doesn't look bad at all.

Many options there:
Shorter hairstyle,hair transplant,hair system.

Wouldn't advice meds as side effects can include testicle pain, low sex drive, etc.

Whatever, dude. I'm trying to help this young man avoid the same nightmare my son is experiencing. Keep your ignorant comments to yourself.
You’re not helping out anyone by pointing out the obvious with your biased view on medication. Helping a young fella out would be giving him both the positive and negative sides of the medication and then letting him decide wether or not the good outweighs the risks.

I did. My hair was long before. I just cut it short. My hair was actually longer before, as you can see in the picture here (the other two pictures are just to show the level of recession). I heard transplant isn't a good idea. If you recede more, you have healthy hair but less hair further back. I didn't plan on having sex anyway, so I don't really care about sex drive. I'm not sure if you'd call this receding "slight", but there you go. Maybe I think it's way worse than it really is.

Not gonna lie, dude you look so much better in long hair. and by short I meant like 1-2 inches short hair styles. Or you can just let them grow long again till the time your hair remains, that will work too.

My main issue was people always saying I kinda look like a girl. And when your voice is high-pitched, that makes things more difficult. Though I will say the really short haircuts I never liked. Too cold, and at the point where I'd shave my head (which is what I think you mean), there's not much reason to just go bald. Functionally, there's little difference. And if (and when) I do go bald, a wig would rather be the option I'd go for.

Well, I just automatically look worse than everyone my age now. Being told to cut off all my hair just sucks. Especially when you got the voice of a woman (or little boy, depending on the interpretation), and not being masculine in any way, and yet, I'm supposed to be bald now... come on, I'm already depressed, and now it's worse. Is there any reason to care about my hair anymore? Might as well just leave it messy at this point cause it's going to look awful no matter what I do. Just quitting at this point seems like a good option. Cause apparently, wigs aren't one.

Just a little bit off topic, but I really understand the situation with high pitched voice because I have been in it. The thought of speaking a word in a crowd used to scare me :(

Yup. That's how it is. But it's not just high-pitched. I straight up sound like a girl (or little boy, depending on the interpretation). Speaking out loud to a crowd is never fun. I just pitch it down a bit.
