Sorry guys but not to bring this thread up again, by reading some of the NWs posts, was just curious how I would be classified? For my hairline, if this helps, it's still pretty much in tact. Thanks guys & I hope everyone has a good new years!

Thanks finasteride, I greatly appreciate it. I did actually see a dermatologist and she said that my crown/vertex area looked good and didn't see anything. It just kind of crazy how this line kind of works its way down in the upper part & makes like a "L" shape into my hair whorl area but then again, I have a cowlick there so maybe that's why it makes it show a little more scalp there. What I understand is that Finasteride works on maintaining what you have but would it actually encourage growth also in the top and back? Also thank you again and thanks for posting your answer here because I don't want to be unfair and take up Thom's thread.

You have great hair man! I don't blame you for worrying though, just keep an eye on it like everyone else says.

I don't really think you need to start finasteride or anything yet...especially due to the possibility of sides. The chance for those sides are low but if you are not balding yet there's no need to take that 1% chance! Especially since you are married!

Btw, do you have the scalp itch most of us do?

Hey guys, thanks. We're actually in the process of getting a new camera since the old one got left behind and we lost it and my camera phone really sucks but the hairline is actually good at age 36 and actually honestly, the very front area has not moved yet and is still in the same position as I was younger. Always thinking that should move someday but it has not yet. Definitely won't take anything until I notice anything. Yes actually my dermatologist did do miniaturization test and I cannot believe that she said that the back has no signs of it and it's just the way that my hair is. finasteride, you're totally right and no offense at all...kinda stupid of me but I had to look BDD (haha) up and cannot agree with you more..you're just calling it as you see it. Good luck to both of you guys and I wish you guys all the best & know that it will work out for you. Also maybe that Histogen thing might turn out to be something in a couple of years and Thom, I really haven't had an aggressive itching besides one time when again I thought my hair wasn't good so I brushed it a couple of times and it seemed like that side of my head felt sore...won't do that again, it's just not right. Thanks for your time again guys.

This is probably an utterly stupid question and I'm sure this is BDD, probably, but if you look at the back shot of my hair, in the upper left area, does that look like a horseshoe or "U" shape starting to form or is this something perfectly normal on everyone? Thanks everyone.

haha, dude it's all good..yeah I do and lots people have told me it. I don't know if you remember the show "Malcolm in the Middle", well my personality is kind of like Malcolm who likes to try be in control of things and one step ahead but unfortunately, I don't have the very high IQ that would land me a very high paying job and I could use the $$$ to buy myself a styling toupee...lol.

Thanks again finasteride and again, all the best!

It's no problem man. Finasteride will not grow hair in areas where hair is not present, it will thicken preexisting hair shafts.

I'm afraid you are mistaken.

Really? Well then you have oubviously been misinformed! Once hair follicle cell apoptosis has occured Finasteride will do nothing to regenerate those cells!
Finasteride only allows minaturized hairs to reverse minaturization, through it's antiandrogenetic properties.

Hair follicles can lie dormant for years before apoptosis occurs. Taking finasteride can regrow hair. I know, because it did for me.

^Above post is not an endorsement of finasteride, especially for the starter of this thread.

I have not used finasteride for years. Presently using Revita shampoo and maintaining, looking to drop that as soon as possible to go all-natural. Will employ some/all of the Immortal Hair regimen, have not decided what I may do on top of that.

Those hair follicles would have returned anyway without Finasteride. So by definition it was not Finasteride that regrew those hairs. As I said earlier Finasteride will not regrow hair where no hair is present.

And, hair follicles will not remain dormant (or more accurately stated in Tellogen Phase) for that duration of time (years). If you believe otherwise please provide a reference to demonstrate that the Tellogen phase can last for years.

''Telogen Phase - resting phase
The resting phase follows the catagen phase and normally lasts about 5-6 weeks. During this time the hair does not grow but stays attached to the follicle while the dermal papilla stays in a resting phase below. Approximately 10-15 percent of all hairs are in this phase at an one time.''

''At the end of the Telogen phase the hair follicle re-enters the Anagen phase. The dermal papilla and the base of the follicle join together again and a new hair begins to form. If the old hair has not already been shed the new hair pushes the old one out and the growth cycle starts all over again.''

I apologize, you are right.
