Been On finasteride 2+ Years, Relatively Stable, Would It Be Silly To Consider A Hair Transplant?

Hoped on finasteride when I was 29 and the first cm or so of my hairline abruptly thinned. I'd say it lost about 80% density compared to the rest of my hair. I have really thick hair so it was really only obvious to me, was still able to style it the way I always could and nobody ever noticed or said anything.

Since then it's been a very slow progression and now I'd say I'm at 90% thinned in that same area with no noticable difference elsewhere, finally to the point it looks bad to style it up because I have a area of extremely patchy/whispy hair that screams balding.

Is that stable enough to consider a hair transplant? I assume right now it would take a pretty low graft count to fix.

Your hairline already looks great. Your hairline's actually lower than mine, and your forehead isn't large like mine, lol. Completely unnecessary to get a transplant.

By the way, you look good for your age.

Thanks, like I said, the main thing that bugs me about it is how whispy the area is, it would look better if it was just fully receeded. I don’t get it, most people with receded hairlines don’t have a spot like that, maybe it’s because finasteride slowed the progression down so much.

I guess I could just clean it up with a razor lol.

Many, if not most men don't have perfectly symmetrical recession/hairlines. Besides, I think a razor could clean it up just fine.

Your hair is great! I doubt you will ever go bald in your life.

Add ru to your minoxidil and get a derminator for dermarolling. It would thicken that right on up.

You are saying you lost 90% density at your hairline? Wtf did it look like before? I see no hairloss as it is

Like the tree line entrance to a redwood forest.

My hair in non balding areas is both incredibly dense and coarse. Like I said the loss was just in the first cm or two, rest still looks fine.

I’m not chasing my pre-hair loss look, I just don’t want tons of scalp visible through a section of my hairline. And thought that might be fixable since I’m pretty stable.

I’ll give the dermaroller a try, thanks for the recommendation guys.

well honestly you are 31, you have minimal hairloss and you claim finasteride has stabilized it , if i were you i would not bother with hair transplant but ofc it depends how much you stress about it
