Hi everyone,

I am a long time lurker here. However i have decided to post here due to my concern regarding my hair vanishing lol. To give you a background I am 25 years old and i started losing hair when i was 21-22. Eveyone on my dads side is 100% bald, but my mom's side everyone got hair, but I am sure I am going my dad's route.

Anyway fast forward, i have been taking finasteride for the past 6 months (however i did miss for 7 days once at about month 4) and it feels like it made my hair a lot thinner and I have been taking photos but i really can't judge by eyeballing. Therefore i would really love to get a second opinion on what you guys think. I have attached 2 sets of photos, one set after 1 week of starting finasteride, the other one after 6 months (now) - I have labelled the pics 1 week and 6 months for clarity (or you can see the one where I am wearing red t-shirt is 6 months, the black t-shirt is 1 week). Unfortunately i did not take any picture before starting finasteride. The interesting thing is that on photo my hair looks much better and not much difference from the baseline, but i can seriously feel my hair a lot lot thinner. Thanks for any help!

Honestly, to me it actually looks like you are getting some regrowth.

You are definately responding to finasteride bro stay on it, you will prob be peaking in another year or two. My family is also like yours, dads side all early cueballs while moms side has hair and I also got my dads hair genes. Im 21 and been on finasteride for about 2 months but seeing no results. Did you see any results at the 2 month mark?

To be honest bro, i don't know if I have regrown any because my hair feels a lot thinner like many other have mentioned. However for the past 2 months i have been losing less hair, however the first 3 to 4 months i was losing quite a lot of hair.

Its hard to say because I only have those pictures to judge from. When you say losing hair you mean like you saw a lot of hairs falling and in shower? Also did you get any sides from finasteride?

Yes when i take shower or run my hands through i now see a lot less hair compared to 2 or 3 months ago. However, hairloss has never completely halted, i still lose 10 to 20 average hairs that i can see in the shower, ofcourse i maybe losing more at other times. However one thing i can say is that before i started finasteride i was losing 5 to 10 hairs in the shower maybe, but when i started using finasteride it went upto 30 to 40 hairs, now it came back down. However it is still more than what i was losing before starting finasteride.

Your hairline actually looks a bit better man.. Can't say the same for the crown as the before pictures were taken under direct light and the afters were not.

Yes that's true, i will try and get a picture under direct sunlight. To be honest hair is feeling way too thin though. I don't know what is going on. Is this the case for everyone? If its going like this, i might as well stop taking this medication. I had much thicker hair before finasteride.

Its definitely not the case for everyone but finasteride didn't stop my hair loss. I wouldnt drop it though, I did for 2 months and my hair took a hit..
