Beginning To Treat Hairloss In New Zealand

Have been experiencing hair loss for about a year now or at least noticed it for that long beginning with receding at the temples and thinning all over the hairline so when i pulled it back i would see my scalp all through my hair and around may started noticing hair loss on my crown after seeing a photo of the back of my head which has continued to worse. Currently seeing large numbers of hair on my pillow and in the shower. No previous history of male pattern baldness in my family at least back to grandparents and some great grandparents other ones died early.

Questions are
1. when i go to the doctor should i ask for any tests to check if its anything else
2. is it possible to maintain hair on just finasteride and do i need a full dosage or can i cut it down

It's 2018 how can some countries not even have minoxidil ffs.
You can maintain with finasteride and you don't need to take the full 1mg 0.5 is fine maybe even as low as 0.2 mg.
