He looks about 35-40 in both pictures.
If he seems younger in the right picture, it is obviously due to shaving his beard and a better lighting and exposition (skin looks brighter, you can see his eye color, etc.) the hair pigmentation makes about 2% of the difference between these pictures. don't let that fool you.

have you ever had a long beard like this and then shaved it? Everybody will tell you that you look 5 years younger

Also this. As you said in the second picture the beard has been shaved, skin looks brighter and less yellow, bags/rings under eyes are drastically reduced and you can see his eye colour.
So is all this because of the scalp pigmentation or is it to do with better lighting, picture angle and (perhaps) airbrushing? You decide!
