There is absolutely ZERO evidence that it will "permanently down regulate your T production". Maybe for the extreme minority that get PSEs, but not for the 90%+ that don't have sides.

It's pointless to discuss finasteride on a forum where people would give anything to stop their hair loss, even their sex life. It's just important for everyone on here to educate interested users on the potential risks that come with finasteride and that even Propecia/finasteride manufacturer Merck agrees that exist - including irreversible erectile dysfunction.

It's up to everyone then to make an informed decision and decide whether the benefits are worth the risks.

This is true, but part of the problem is the drug simply hasn't been around long enough to properly test the long term effects on your testosterone production. And when I say long term I mean in regards to people who use the drug for as many as 15-20 years and beyond.

There is also ZERO evidence that it does not. Have you ever seen blood work done before during and after a course of propecia? What we do have is wide spread anecdotal evidence that there are serious risks to taking it. Given the symptoms reported, it is easy to draw tentative conclusions about the cause of these problems by following the basic logic regarding how the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and male endocrine system operates given its tendency to aim toward homeostasis.

Thats your opinion which you are entitled to however it is generally considered a safe drug since it is FDA approved and undergone alot of testing and clinical trials. Show me some genuine evidence to back up your claim that guys have their 'endocrinic system shut down completely' then people would take notice in what you are saying. At present you are coming out with just your own little theories to scare guys on here from sorting out their hairloss problems.

Which safe treatments are you referring to that actually make a difference by themselves that are proven to work on humans and not in test tubes like revivogen?

Having a transplant and waiting for advances treatments is not very good advice since people will continue to lose their native hair after having a transplant if they are not on finasteride.

Either use finasteride or continue to lose your hair.

I started balding at 25. I'm now 30. I am still not quite NW2. I have been maintaining with Regaine and Tricomin. I have recently added a few more things to my regime but have largely maintained without finasteride.

FDA approval is not a cast iron guarantee the drug is safe. Look at the failures like Roacutane otherwise happy teenagers killing after taking this ‘safe’ drug for a month or Thalidomide which left 20,000 people worldwide born without full arms.

In ten years there is likely to be a range of treatments for complete regrowth such hair multiplication, stem cell regeneration etc etc. Whereas the people who suffered the extreme sides from finasteride will still not be able to enjoy a sex-life. As Multispeed said, it is up to you to make an informed decision and as you can see, I have made mine.

You will be saying that same sentence again in ten years!

I would not be that sure of it. Look how things have speeded up recently.
