Hey all,

I'm 25 and noticed thinning in crown and front corners 2 years ago, hopped on romaine immediately but derm said I really was too young to consider propecia. Fast forward and crown thinning is picking up and front as well- I'm considering propecia.

I think rogaine has slowed down the loss but that's difficult to gauge. My older brother has extremely thick hair and My dad is 63 with all of his hair. I got screwed by my moms side but her dad died around 30 so I only have like 1 old school picture to look at and its not very helpful (additionally he's too young in it to know potential hair loss).

Obviously the only thing holding me back is side effects (primarily anything long term/irreversible and gyno). I met one derm 2 weeks ago who was willing to prescribe and I'm meeting another next week just for another opinion.

Anybody who has used BOTH propecia and minoxidil for a while- please tell me about your story, your gains, and sides as well.

I would really like to thicken what I have, maintain that, and any help on corners/hairline would be a great bonus.

Any feedback greatly appreciated!

ill sum it up- im 28- been taking finasteride and Rogain for a year + - a few months

It kinda thickened some of my hairs- its harder to see my scalp unless its wet- and even then it kinda looks improved

I think what im trying to say is - you will keep what you got- with maybe a slight improvement. I dont know how long it will last- and i will tell you that Rogain SUCKS because it looks like its making you balder at first- but in the end it kinda paid off i guess

You need to realize you are playing the margins because this is all genetic- you will not re-grow a full head of hair and you wont have hair forever- these drugs just give you time to make peace with those facts

unless the future (15 years from now the way our FDA works) has something in store- we are all on the same boat

when you start, you mostly maintain what you have. Very slowly, it gets thicker and the holes of thinning patch up a bit.

I experienced no side effects except mild depression (as in, " mental fog"). This is largely individual, though I doubt very many people at all experience irreversible effects

Realistically you can expect to maintain what you have for then next 10years + and probably thicken it up a little bit

I'm a short term user at the moment but I can speak on the sides I've got. My libido and ability to get it up dropped for a month, Now I'm back where my penis being hard is an annoyance again. Like everyone says, If you do get sides, Real sides, they will most likely go away once your body gets use to the drug.

Good gains tho every case is different. No sides apart from mild ball ache time to time. Hardly worth mentioning really
