Switched from propecia about 3 weeks ago to .5mg Avodart every other day and after a week I started to shed a lot and itch . I have now added added propecia back in on the day I don't take the dutasteride .

The itch has calmed down but still shedding and it's been about 3 weeks now .is this normal and do I just stick it out?

I have been on dutasteride for 2 and half months and the shed is still going on, not as much as the fist two month but still going.
I think you should keep up with dutasteride or finastride.
Why are you taking both of them?

I decided to add some propecia back into the mix because I was concerned that the Avodart wasn't genuine so if this is the case at least I still have something I can't trust .

I can't see how propecia is as good as dutasteride ... dutasteride inhibits more dht and all the studies showed it performed better

dutasteride is bit better but as I have seen also faster, it causes a heavy shed but also growing at the same time, or at least is doing it for me.
I also got some itch but it when away

Maybe your right Sir ... I can't believe just how much hair I've lost in a few weeks with dutasteride . Do you think this is a good sign ?

I would not say is good or bad, it just means that dutasteride is lowering the DHT in your body, and the cycle of your hairs is changing.
Since dutasteride inhibits some more DHT in your scalp it makes sense that afects more follicules.

Added dutasteride 4 months ago. (2-3x / week + finasteride every day) started to shed more due to dutasteride + itchy scalp came up since using dutasteride.

Don't know if it is bad or good...

He is adding it to his regiment. In studies dutasteride did show that it worked for male pattern baldness. There is also results online, like these: http://www.twinshairloss.com/

dutasteride is said to work about the same as Propecia in the long term, but seems to give results faster... more people noticed 'growth' from dutasteride, even after being on Propecia for a year plus.

Im only using finasteride and minoxidil but i would imagine changing whatever routine you were use to will lead to a shed as many people on here have reported. you changed to dutasteride because you were unhappy with finasteride so imo you've only got two options- give the dutasteride longer to see if it gives you results- at least 6months, or revert back to finasteride and always wonder.

how do you know that site is legit. as beingbaldsucks mentioned it could be a scam. dutasteride is not approved for hairloss. I asked many urologist about dutasteride and they said it is exactly like finasteride. the little more dht dutasteride blocks make no difference. maybe dutasteride just works faster, but at the end there both the same

I can understand that it may only be effective as finasteride but why on earth would I lose so much hair ? Its not like my DHT levels will be higher ? I must confess it has totally killed my hairline

Do not think much about it. your hair will come back again and propbably will be stronger. it my third month on dutasteride and my hair is looking better, so stay calm and i know it is very hard thing to do since you see your hair becoming worse and worse.he cahnge in your hairs cycle is taking `place so the hair has to fall out, this will also occur every few month but will be less everytime it happens as the hair cycle unsincronise.
Good luck

Exactly, the guy's hair looks unnatural. Not to mention, I find it hard to believe that some guys are going to put up a Blog and dedicate all of that time to it without seeking monetary gain.
