ive been using minoxidil for 26 months now, within a few weeks i had the infamous blonde vellus on my temples and over the course of about a year/15 months they got longer but still blonde and vellus...........hopped onto the foam about a year ago and in recent days have noticed all the vellus has vanished?!

the foam definitely works well for me as i had a massive shed at the crown/mid scalp and it all came back thicker/longer

but where in the hell did the vellus go? i can't imagine that they would just fall out never to be heard from again? or maybe they had a brief flourish and gave up? or very wishful thinking maybe they shed and im going to see terminals!? now thatd be nice!

anyone any ideas? :)

Libertine......you're scaring me.
After much debate about the foam and all the negativity within this board and others, I decided to use it to try and regrow some of my temples/hairline starting three days ago. Ive been on finasteride for almost two weeks now and am at NW2.8ish Your posts have been inspiring to me in many ways in regards to the foam and you seem to be an advocate for it. I appreciate your optimism. After browsing other sites however I've read foam has eaten peoples hairlines while on finasteride and while using it for over 8months! I have a shitty hairline.

I came on here to post a new topic about how scared I am and how risky it is. Now the person who inspired me about the foam has really got me in a dilemma/predicament. Man, I wish you the best of luck and hopefully those are terminal hairs. I am even more confused and scared now. I cant risk losing any more hair at my hairline. Its already horrible...wish i had some good advice for you but im a noob when it comes to his battle and i feel like i am losing it

i re read your post. . . . a few things

you wrote that the foam had better results but not on frontal only mid are and back area. did you see any results on frontal with regular minoxidil before? what Norwood are you? did you ever incur regrowth of terminal hairs while on foam? TIA

hey stillpulln'

the foam has done me a lot of favours at the crown and mid section....even when i used liquid i only ever managed to get vellus hairs at the front (temples/hairline)...........the liquid didnt really do much at the crown/mid section but the foam really has.

i really wouldnt be put off using the foam ,its great stuff...............all im saying with my post is who knows whatll happen next at my hairline/temples,its notoriously hard to grow hair there and the loss of the vellus is as much a good sign as bad IMO........

I just read ya scared that itll eat ya hairline, foam has never done this to me,my hairline is exactly the same as it has always been.........ive been on finasteride/min/nizoral for 26 months.

all that has happened with minoxidil at the hairline regarding new growth for me is vellus appearing about 3 months in then getting a bit longer then vanishing a couple of years later.............the minoxidil has slightly brought my temples in however :)

im optimistic that what with hairline/temple growth being very hard and hair cycles being so slow that the shedding of vellus could well mean something good will happen there!

in short, definitely stay on the foam and the finasteride and dont reassess until at least a year (if youve been on finasteride for 8 months id wait til 20 months to give the foam a good chance in combo with it)

on a side note i really didnt see improvements until about 15 months on the big three

good luck :)

TYPO-i was tired/up reading. I meant to write ive read the foam the FOAM itself has eaten hairlines...not finasteride. Many people have experienced this even after 8mos of use on minoxidil foam. Sorry to confuse. Ive been on fincar for two weeks now 1.25mg. 3 days ago I started foam on the temple and hairline region. I am very scared though because i dont want to go below my bad baseline and not recover as many people have when it comes to foam on the hairline/temple. losing ground in this area is not an option and i am a bit worried. Hopefully the dissapperaing for those vellus means new terminal for you keep us updated.

minoxidil helped me on the crown and the mid section, not so much on the hairline unfortunately.
