I am a 23 year old guy who's always had good blood pressure readings in the past (110/70, 115/70, nothing over 120/80 ever), even with my weakness for nicotine. I am doing everything I can to give up smoking - and am well on my way to ending said addiction - but lately I have been given high blood pressure readings that I think are caused by something much more than cigarettes.
They have actually been pretty scary readings. Last week I had a reading that came out as 160/110! Then this morning I had a checkup that measured me at 130/90, obviously WAY too high for a guy my age. Hell, I eat healthy (lots of vegetables, green tea, clean proteins), stay active, and am at a healthy body weight (I'm too skinny if anything). The only thing I can really think of is the 5% minoxidil I take, and that perhaps my body is intolerant to it. Which makes sense, because sometimes I'll lay in my bed at night (just after application) and just "feel" my heart race through my chest - a sensation I don't remember experiencing prior to starting minoxidil last January.
Does anyone out there have any thoughts or similar experiences? Obviously I'm going to drop the minoxidil ASAP and see where that gets me.
