Bodybuilding with finasteride!

This is going to sound weird, but since I have been on finasteride and started working out again, I have seen some pretty good gains of muscle. I thought I would of seen the opposite. I started around 175 pounds, I have gained 10pounds and become quite abit leaner. To all those people who are worried about losing gains in the gym, I would not worry about it. I doubt finasteride has anything to do with it, it is probably my dedication and my diet.

It's weird...some people say that propecia makes them put on tons of muscle and other people develop gyno and fat around their stomach. I wonder how much of it has to do with hormonal changes and how much is just in people's heads...

Luke, given that my experience has been virtually identical to eBow's, I'd say it's generally in the person's head. That doesn't mean it WON'T happen, but it's certainly not as common as some suggest. I think that a lot of guys don't watch what they eat, though they may claim they do. Also keep in mind that a lot of these posters are between 20-25, and it's NOT uncommon for guys in that age range to gain 20 lbs. It could simply be that.

Frankly, I don't remember passing 180 until I began Fina. 190 was my top weight and in my opinion looked akward on my frame. I had no problems dropping weight thereafter, even on a full-fledged fina regimen. But then, my diet is pretty strict. sh*t, I'm eating some eggs right now. Mmmm...5 scrambled. Then a can of tuna baby, maybe with a drop of lemon on there.

i wonder how many of those who gain fat and develop gyno were going to the gym and really working out.

i really really really hope gyno doesn't happen to me. i run 35 miles a week and lift weights three days a week.

A minor case of gyno is easily correctable.

How???

as i have a minor case of Gyno (puffy Nipples) from using finasteride.
I am 5'10" and 155 pounds and not much fat elsewhere.

surgery = easily correctable?!?

Paying thousands of dollars for going under the knife isn't what I call an "easy fix".

I recall reading a report on the internet some time ago that basically said that taking finasteride could possibly benefit a person who lifted weights...I don't recall the whole article in its entirety, but the main crux of it had to with DHT's hypothetical role in muscle breakdown and/or it's role in impeding muscle atrophy..And, if I remember correctly, it also had something to do with the anit-dht medications "freeing up" more testosterone in the body in general..Something to that effect....So, theoretically, the less DHT a person has in their system, the more effective they should be at gaining muscle....Again, I'm sure this would vary from person to person, and it's not something that I have ever heard much about......But it was interesting.

It's not thousands, and if you have insurance, it's typically covered. If your provider won't cover it, don't bother crying to me. Get a better job.

If you live in the UK you don't get these treatment through insurance or the NHS!!!

Easily correctable indeed!!

Mine does, I've asked. ;)

It's really a simplistic surgery - barely more invasive then vision correction. Read up on it and keep in mind that getting your tonsels out is also surgery.

Okay, get a better country. :p Doesn't change the fact that it's about a half hour worth of surgery and basically zero recovery time. This ain't a triple bypass, man, you don't even have to be totally unconcious if you don't want to be.

Here's a link to the process:

Also, here's another site with some good pics of the limited, "my nipple is just kinda long and not flat with a little puff" type of gyno guys here complain about:

Keep in mind this kid is 5'11" and 140 at this time.

according to MERCK gyno is supposed to go away when you quit propecia... is that not true?

If it's caused by Finasterdie, it can go away. Though many guys swear up and down that they got puffy nipples from Finasteride, it's not uncommon to have them before hand and just never notice.

My nipples sound similar to yours before i started finasteride, however they are defo worse after taking finasteride for a year.

I quit finasteride 2 months ago and my Nipples are still puffy and pointed.

(btw, my nipples look normal hard, small and flat when they are cold)
