Damn that blows. I did the same and bought a two year supply, but that was after my Doctor wrote me a prescription for it.

chronic pain. occured following a surgery i had about a decade ago. ive been going to a specialized physical therapist for it for a couple of years. supposedly i can go on it when the therapy is over and i am pain free, but thats a long process with no end in sight. in effect it would make it impossible to judge progress if i were on it.

Does finasteride really has something to do with the pain?
How did the doctor find out you take it?
I think you should search more medical opinions.

I think It's pointless to purchase this huge quantity, especially if you'll end up using only quarter of the dose at once (.25 perhaps due to side effects).

studies have shown it can cause testicular pain. Pain in general tenses up the body which is something that is detrimental to my recovery at this time

I anticipated taking a full 1mg a day which would have meant I'd use it all before it expires. Willing to let it to at a loss.

I had an ultrasound done at a hospital 4 years into taking finasteride. Granted my briefs might have been too tight or I may have had some rough sex, or over exercise... who knows if it was finasteride that caused it.

most people who suffer from hair loss are older and insecure about their hair loss. sexual drive takes a hit as you get older... and if youre concerned about your hair to the extreme... say goodbye to your libido. also another reason why i want to hold off is because id like to get my hormones in check prior to taking it. i have low test and other issues for years that were there prior to my recent and brief ingestion of this medication. i did not suffer any sides in the few weeks i was on it.

Also need to consider the exp. date.

Is the expiration date a real thing? If you cut a pill into 4ths will it go stale?

I'm thinking and correct me if I'm wrong that the incidence of testicular pain was no greater than the placebo thereby debunking that side. One the times I tried retaking
the drug I quit because of perceived nut pain. It turned out that it was just due to sitting prolonged hours and I was only paying attention to it because of the finasteride sides warnings. My left nut
almost always has a little tenderness whether taking finasteride or not. Since testicular pain is not
a real side effect of the drug but more or a less a post report I think you would be fine on the meds. But you should listen to your Doctor.

Yeah but the posts are delayed and I get little
information from their members. I like this forum better.

I don't know why some have a delay on their posts. That forum actually has many more anti finasteride guys. At least it seems that way.

All I can really do is to wait to see what the Pfs studies reveal. However I think they have no conclusive evidence. There's just too much crap out there and too much to think about. What dose should I take? Should I take it every other day? Once a week? Ugh! I was never that good about making every dose. I would miss a dose here and there. Sometimes accidentally take 3 doses in one morning due to brain fog and not remembering if I had taken my pill. Sometimes going 2 weeks without taking it. No complications and no hair loss I could think of when this happened.

I used a 7 day pill container to eliminate confusion.

OK, and do you have testicular pain from it?
If not, i don't see real reasons for the doctor's advice.
We know doctors, they don't like when people take medicines which they didn't recommend.
I don't want to say that you should continue finasteride, but you should consider seeking more medical advice, ask another 2-3 doctors if finasteride really can mess up with your recovery process.
And what spoeciality is your doctor, does he really know something about finasteride, or he simply saw in the prospect "testicular pain" and told you to stop it?

- - - Updated - - -

But you should listen to your Doctor.

This is a good advice in general, but however doctors are often not big experts, at least in other areas then their specialty.
It is always good to seek 2-3-4 differen medical opinions, and preferably from doctors who know well the finasteride drug, who prescribe it(dermatologists or urologists i think) , and not general practitioners or doctors of other specialty.
If 3-4 doctors who know what they're talking tell you to stop finasteride, perfect, you can stop it.

From what i've read, actually you can stop finasteride for up to 6-12 months till the male pattern baldness would kick back .

I get testicular discomfort daily. Sometimes the pain reaches a 2 to 4 whether or not I sit more than 14 hours in the day... Your brother could have coincidentally got his testicular pain at any point while on finasteride. Doesn't mean finasteride caused it. I can testify that I got testicular pain 2 days after one of the 4 times i started the drug. To me that tells me it's in my head.
