I had this social gathering and the lights were extremely harsh exposing my thinning on top.

Got commented by someone when everyone was there.."wow your hair is really getting thin at top"...

then he goes..why dont u do something about it... :-x

For the first time I did not deny and just accepted that I have hairloss and its hereditary. But the look given to me by everyone sitting there with their full heads of hair was so pathetic...darn...it was a terrible night.

How do you guys face these type of situations? :(

MAN!!! I hate that sh*t.....it makes you feel like you wanna crawl under a rock! Why is baldness the ONE acceptable feature that people are allowed ot make fun of? oh well..when that happens...i usually laugh it off and say somethign sarcastic. No point in being an uptight, insecure crybaby about it. That won't help matters. They'll see YOu as the guy who cant handle it, and not want to hang around you. AS for the guy that said it....what goes around comes around!

I know how you feel man. The same thing happened to me a few days ago. I was out playing pool with some friends and you know the lights over the pool tables are pretty bright.

So after leaning over to take a shot, with the bright lights making my thinning on the top very obvious, a guy remarks pretty bluntly, "hey man you're going bald" Everyone at the table just stop talking and all looked up at my head.

Man I just wanted to crawl into a hole and hide. I felt miserable for the rest of the night.

Those situations are so tough because you don't even know what to say. I just played it off cooly and pretended like it didn't bother me. But deep down I felt so embarrassed and angry at the person who said it.

hey guys,

not to be rude or make you feel worse, but maybe u need to reconsider the friends you have around you. i know for a fact that my friends would never point out something like that or poke fun at a person for something like balding. they know its a sensitive issue for most people and would never say something to put them on the spot like that.

losing hair has been real hard for me as a college student, but its been mostly between me and myself. my friends have never come close to mentioning it or even staring and examining my hair. they treat me just as always and having that comfort that they will never tease me and will support me regardless makes it so much easier to face each morning when i get out of the shower and see how thin my hair has become.

theres no real point to my post, except that i hope you all surround yourself with supportive people because we are going through something difficult and deserve support.

Yeah this happen to me in certain lights. Especially bathroom lights.

My question is this: If we have regrown a lot of our hair, how is it that strong light can make it look bald again?

I think it's because more light makes it through to your scap where as a normal lighting situation allows for your hair to create some shadows giving it a thicker look.

When i look at my hair in my bathroom with the lights on i want to cry. It makes my hair look so thin.

I wonder if harsh lights from globes can make our thin hair look so worse, I cant imagine how pathetic we would be looking standing in strong Sunlight. :? :?

I wanna look into the option of toppik...easy n quick ..

dermatch..its just too much mess n time consuming..but results are awesome...

but most users on this forum say that toppik is detectable in sunlight.

any successful toppik users here?

I think that there is always one person in a group of friends that is very blunt and doesn't think before they say something.

This person comments on everything and anything without considering the consequences.
