Meds and transplants are the only "cure" we have. I'll keep taking my finasteride and minoxidil, then probably get a transplant in a few years. Work with what we have now for hair loss,

You are sure those are women?
Lol, yeah. As long as you're not Bob from Fight Club it's fine, stop coping with slight gyno. I take it over baldness any day. Gyno is fully reversable by surgery, you can also get buff and it will be unnoticable.

Ya daily application and itchiness are deal breakers for me. Ill just stick to shaving my head. No matter when something comes out its going to cost money and if its the real deal all that money I didn't spend on min and finasteride can go toward that. Plus if Riken is talking about getting rid of the hairs that are going to miniaturize anyway and replacing them I'll be ahead of the curve. Not saying that taking min and finasteride if they work for you is a bad idea thats perfectly okay I just have a different way of thinking.

For me, and it's the reason I've largely stopped participating in discussions of new tech and such, it's not about "the cure" but rather a superior option to a transplant that can be a "functional cure" in my (and many others') case.

It does look like we will have that within a few years, along with a superior alternative to finasteride.

Follica and Shiseido are the only reasons I decided to put off a transplant for a year because there is real potential for the former and possibly both to be out before the next decade and their clinical data is good enough to push it through to a release. I know some like to autistically screech about "25 hair per whatever", but the truth is I don't care what number it is; it will absolutely be able to achieve the results of the Dhurat study or better and for most low Norwoods, that will be a much better option than a transplant.

4. If a new treatment comes out you will test each treatment first, it will not give you significant regrowth immediately. 2-3 years are necessary to evaluate the full potential of a treatment on yourself./QUOTE]

This is actually a load of crap. Hair grows slowly, yes, but within 3 - 6 months most people's hair will grow long enough to have a respectable hairstyle. I'm not looking to grow my hair halfway to my *** within a year or something...

I'm not near as advanced as many here in terms of baldness, but hairloss really opened my eyes to how tragically short youth really is, how fast time moves, and the whole thing has left me feeling like I was born just a bit too early.

I've little doubt that when I'm in my mid 30s or so, there will be full-fledged "cures" for Androgenetic Alopecia, but I'm just not prepared to wait that long.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm a couple of years away from being 30 now. I don't think there will be a full blown cure within the next 5-7 years... maybe 10, who knows? But look back at how long people have been waiting for a cure. It doesn't look good.

This was drug-induced (not by finasteride though), there was no way I'd ever risk going through that nightmare (as if hair loss was not enough) again.

Before this happened to me, I had always had this intuition I should not take finasteride, I cannot really explain why. I wish I had never found out that I was right not to take it though.

So yeah, all that's left for me is minoxidil, FUE's and if it's ever needed: beard grafts and temporary SMP.
Hello, Polar Bear. I have the same problem with you. I have slight gyno (my nipples have got a little puffy). I don't know what causes it, maybe finasteride, maybe something else. However, I have consulted my doctor (he is one of the most famous, respected experts in that field), he told me after removing hypertrophied glands surgically, you are pretty unlikely to have it again. He also told me he had done a lot of surgeries of gyno for people including some who were induced by drugs (they still needed to take some drugs after surgery to treat other diseases they have), and according what he knew, there was no one getting gyno again. Gyno happens because abnormal hormones in body stimulate mammary gland tissue to expand and enlarge. After surgery you've cut off most of your mammary gland tissue, even though your hormone is still abnormal, the existed few mammary gland tissue won't develop obviously. Just like seeds and fertilizer, fertilizer won't give you a good harvest based on few seeds.

Anyway, according to my doctor's sayings, it's pretty safe to take finasteride after removing hypertrophied glands surgically. I think you can take finasteride without worrying about having gyno again. Hope it can help you for reference, good luck to you.

I was shocked by Polar Bears gyno pic. I have bigger man boobs from being a middle aged fat skinny. I see why it bothered Polar Bear but f*** I must have the worst genes of all time.
