This is some good stuff. If you can get RU 57? in this topical than it will definately be a useful product. Might be expensive though.

Bryan - here is CJ's reply. Thoughts?

"To address this, I work with 2 cGMP-certified labs based in the US, and 1 Canadian one as well. 2 of them have already confirmed with me that the free-form GLA/ALA is not a problem to get/extract, its less expensive than processed and purified oil."

I'm not completely sure what he means by that. What "processed and purified oil" is he talking about? How could an EXTRACT of a natural oil (GLA/ALA) be less expensive than the oil itself?? I suppose he means that a simple de-esterification would be easier to do than the more extensive processing and purifying that an oil undergoes before it's ready to be sold to the consumer as, say, a bottle of cooking oil.

In any event, as long as he understands that all we need is just an appropriate oil that's naturally rich in unsaturated fatty acids (maybe borage or flaxseed or black currant, etc.) to be de-esterified in bulk, then I think we're all on the same page!

"Getting it to mix and stay mixed with other ingredients is tricky, its fairly thick stuff unless you water it down, and it doesn't dissolve readily into solution."

What we'd probably want is a solution in ethanol, like they used in the hamster study. With some appropriate antioxidant protection, of course.

"You ... would need to raise volunteers via your sites that would be willing to test a new product and report their results, whatever they may be."

If he's serious about all this, then this is REALLY starting to sound intriguing!!

Bryan ... is RU prescription?

No. RU58841 is just an experimental substance developed by a French team, so it has no official status as a drug or medicine here. It's just a chemical.

I have lost all respect for u gourmetstylewellness.com. Big deal the procerin company is trying to prevent hairloss by lying to the general public saying their product works guaranted. Hell you might as well back ken for his bullshit too while you're at it.

guaranted:
1. A written assurance that some product or service will be provided or will meet certain specifications

They are lying right? what makes u think they will not lie to u? or even the customer? You are taking the big risk for your "company" (gourmetstylewellness.com)

Lose your reputation and you are nothing. No better than any shrill (ken bhahah)

don't give in to the dark side luke.

disclaimer: mind you it is 2:39 am PST and i've had a few drinks. Anything i have typed doesn't reflect anything i have read. here goodluck all. woot

It would also be great if you could ask them if the product would ONLY contain fatty acids. The other stuff (zinc, b6, azelaic acid etc.) is unneccesary and may, as Bryan suggested, make it cheaper.

Yes, I agree that it is very foolish to add superfluous ingredients to topical preparations, a critical mistake by the Revivogen makers. Each additional ingredient introduces a new potential for chemical incompatabilities (which may not be so obvious) and adverse dermatological reactions. Therefore, all ingredients should be carefully considered and not tossed in willy-nilly on scant evidence of efficacy, à la Revivogen.

Using this method, Revivogen and its Fatty Acids wont even see the light of day for 10 years. And rightfully so. There's no need, if what you have going is working.
The reason for using fatty acids or other topical 5 alpha-reductase inhibitors is to avoid systemic interference of DHT production, not to improve upon finasteride's inhibition of 5-AR. Well, I suppose that there will always be the occasional odd ball whom is convinced that inhibiting the production of an extra molecule or so of DHT or that blocking the type I 5-AR isozyme will have a significant impact, but I think that they represent the minority of the group of people interested in topical fatty acids. Concurrent use an androgen receptor antagonist such as spironolactone with finasteride is another story, however.

Hi gourmetstylewellness.com,

I have to say your doing a good job here. Great constructive ideas! and like Bono said: Only if you're willing to talk to people on the other side of the spectrum change is possible...
