Yep, the male pattern baldness-itch on top of a burning sensation is a classic. I don't know its specific causes, but I would assume scalp-DHT has to do with it. In my case, the actual scalp burning sensation was there during the worst periods of my hair loss, before I got on medication. The itch was there on "normal" days pretty much.. It's terrifying.

As to how I got rid of it: being on Finasteride made it a lot bearable, with Nizoral practically killing it off completely.

I would have scalp burning sensations until I started using a Ketoconazole shampoo. For me at least, it went away completely since adding that medication into my regimen.

the burning you feel is dht destroying your hair

I have that feeling all over my scalp, even my face feels like burning, but I have rosacea/SD, which SD is uncommon in women but I was the lucky women to get that. Wonder if rosacea or SD have something to do with DHT sensitivity, would make sense since it all started the same time as the hairloss and scalp burning. It's sad to go from cute to crap within a year.

Your face is burning? You need to see a doctor or dermatologist IMO.
I get itchy scalp all the time. I get pimples too which can burn, probably because my follicles are a battleground between DHT and finasteride.

I wash my hair and scalp religiously with nizoral and other shampoos that do a great job cleaning everything up. I sometimes get a burning sensation on my scalp in thinning areas. But I've NEVER had my face burning before.

I have no clue either. My face went from dry to superoily overnight, as well as my scalp, same thing with the burning. I Feel like I'm the only one dealing with this. I'm so getting a skin biopsy done.
Its almost like whatever is going on on my scalp is going on on my face. I know I've been told I've SD , but i don't think it causes hairloss like this.

I do get a burning sensation but usually it only happens when my scalp flares up in summer and i get mad dandruff kinda like psoriasis or something. I saw a derm and he said my scalp was fine so idk. I use T-gel and it helps a little it.

Since I also deal with rosacea (early stage) I'm doing some research it. It's odd how similar it is to Androgenetic Alopecia. A lot of people like me with subtype 1 rosacea (with erythema and teleglantacias) suffer from facial burning sensations. In fact the burning sensations on my scalp feel exactly then on my face. My face is really oily, my scalp too. Researchers are thinking rosacea is caused by Demodex mites.... My believe is its also caused by sensitivity to androgens.
In the skin of rosaceans there's inflammation ( perivascular and lymphocytic, in skinbiopsy's a large amount of mast cells were found). New blood vessels develop in the inflamed area , and the flow of blood through the affected tissue is greatly increased (more DHT also) . The tissues become thickened and fibrotic, with the multiplication of fibroblasts and the increased deposition of collagen. The sebaceous glands enlarge (hyperplasia) and secrete more sebum.

I dont think male pattern baldness has ever been proven to be linked to that itch or burning sensation though. I think its more the DHT interacting with receptors in the hair than it really is the scalp DHT amounts or could be the immune response after DHT does whatever it does in the follicles. Its pretty safe to say no one knows yet exactly why DHT does what it does to hair.

scalp inflammation.

it's the worst when your scalp breaks out, and the sebum clogs the pores. Start to sweat and it will sting
