I'd like to collect some ideas/hypotheses as to why finasteride can cause shedding in some individuals. I would also like these hypotheses to be compatible with the fact that propecia can cause continuous shedding for some individuals.

I have trouble contemplating why, if propecia inhibits DHT, it should cause irreparable shedding to some people. It's just something I'd appreciate some input on.

Thanks

I seen more than a few that stopped the shedding on duta. Fina simply isnt effective enough, even on duta some has reported they needed 10x the recommended dosage before it had a positive effect on hair and scalp. However, insufficient dosage doesn't automatically cause shedding, we cant know why they react that way to small doses.

I simply think it's not just dht, but more about balancing all the hormones. Dht has not only itself several metabolites, but also it is in feedback loops with estrogen ect.

While we know that dht has an inhibitory effect on papilla cells in vitro, we still don't know what causes the effect, as we haven't found why the cells don't like dht.

Best example is that the pill causes hairloss in some women.

I think i subscribed most to the theory that in some instances when you take finasteride it just completely freaks out your hormones and they go somewhat haywire. It would obviously cause some sort of stress if it were going to cause telogen, would it not? Another reason I think I'm a bit for taking minute doses of the stuff, even if it's just to get started, as it's noted that taking 1mg achieves maximum inhibition of 5AR with the first dose, whereas micro doses, such as 0.05mg and, I believe, 0.2mg, take multiple doses to eventually work up to maximum inhibition.
