Can finasteride benefit men who don't have male pattern baldness

It is my understanding that it is Dr. McAndrew's belief that propecia benefit everyone, and it is my understanding Dr. McAndrew takes propecia himself. I would like to know if there are any men who don't have male pattern baldness, but are taking propecia to enhance their cosmetic appearance. Knowing that might also help those men who are in denial of their hair loss/thinning to make a decision.

Why would a man without male pattern baldness take propecia? I mean its not a flintstone vitamin or something its a drug changing your hormones. I dont know anyone that would take a drug for fun or to maybe prevent some future problem. If you see your losing hair then you debate whether to try propecia or not with a doctor. Makes no sense to take it just in case.

abcdefg, your point is perfectly valid, but I'm asking based on a well respected medical professional's belief that propecia benefits everyone.

If you are willing to take propecia to improve your cosmetic appearance (ie. look more feminine?), why don't you consider chopping your balls off, it would have the same effect.

Ah, the anti-finasteride brigade is slowly popping back up, tell me, how did your natural route go?

Doctors and medical professionals all just make judgement calls in the end based on current medical knowledge assuming they even keep up on all of it. They can make major mistakes just like anyone else. Tomorrow we could find out that DHT plays a crucial role in some important function somewhere we never knew about and then that doctor is wrong. Why mess with something that works fine as it is? Now if your balding that is a different story you have to use what we have that works and that is no doubt propecia.

I'm just criticizing the fact that someone would take it without even having a hair loss problem. If it's for hair loss and it works for you without sides, then good for you. Natural route? I use minoxidil... well my hair loss is progressing as I don't take any DHT inhibitor but I still have more than in the no-minoxidil parallel world :).

It was in response to the highlighted part, surely you can see it's ridiculous. finasteride doesn't feminise whoever takes it, where ever you heard that, it's obviously a big fat lie. I agree with the your point that it would be useless to take if you weren't suffering from male pattern baldness.

A guy I know from college took it for a year to prevent male pattern baldness. He didn't have male pattern baldness and yes it was very stupid, lucky for him the only side effect he said he had was being tired. Also know people without male pattern baldness who take finasteride to prevent hairloss while on steroids. Apparently that's fairly common.

There is a case to be made that as of today short of preventing male pattern baldness there is not much you can do to reverse it. So prevention really is the best idea but is it worth the risk?

lol, you actually posted a link to that frauds site, the gay guy in denial who always wanted to become a woman so he blamed Finasteride, and since he was magically turned homosexual by a drug, he decided he might as well change gender.

What a load of ****e. That fella has NO credibility and became a laughing stock for blaming finasteride on his reason to become a woman, lmao. Can't believe you posted that link, Fred. Also, he's taking spironolactone as well, a well known test blocker, and a well known drug that transsexuals take.

:D

lol I know, but that story made quite a fuzz in the Belgian tabloïds :p.

You know, I'm currently recovering from gynecomastia surgery. The gyno was caused by other meds than finasteride, but still, doctors told me that I am hypersensitive to hormones. A guy with the same pre-existing condition than me would end up with gyno if he took Propecia. I know, you're gonna tell me: "But the gyno subsides when you stop taking the drug." Well, no, no, it doesn't, at least it didn't for me.

And if you ask me what is worse between balding and having gyno, I'll reply gyno anytime.

That article was posted here also, many lulz were had. :D

I'm not advocating you take the drug, but other guys here had non-finasteride related gyno in their teens yet still take it finasteride. I suppose if you're sensitive to changes to your hormonal equilibrium, it would be wise to not take it, or if you wanted to, talk to a specialist.

Back on topic, no OP, it's pretty pointless taking finasteride if you don't suffer from male pattern baldness.

In a person without problems with hair, What is better finasteride or minoxidil to prevent common baldness?
IMHO None of them, any product that alters the natural hair cycle could have harmful effects in a healthy scalp hair.

is that Mandi article serious? How can a drug change the structure of your hips?

.

I'm considering Gyno surgery (possibly if I can afford it) . Did they remove breast tissue or fat or both? And did it leave any noticable scarring?
