Can Finasteride Or Dutastiride Stop My Hairloss Even If My Dht Is Low To Begin With?

I noticed my temples have started to recede slightly and I was thinking about starting finasteride to stop any further loss but I wanted to get my blood work done before to see where my dht level was at to begin with in case I got sides. The test came back and my dht level was only 34 ng/dl (30-80 is normal). If i'm losing hair on the lower end of the spectrum can dht blockers even help me at this point or am I just so sensitive to it that I'm fighting a losing battle?

So to your question, yes I still think dht blockers can help and even possibly thicken your hair to some degree. You have more than slightly receded though, is say nw2-2.5. id say give finasteride a shot and wait 6mnths to a year to decide if it helps

Yeah I'm actually 20 exactly. My hairline has been like this for at least a year but i didn't really notice how bad it was till I got my haircut short. I guess I'm gonna have to start.

You really think it can help me? I was under the impression that finasteride would help people who had to much dht as apposed to someone lile me that's just really sensitive to it. I really am not ready to lose my hair.

Yeah I think it can. Nobody knows how theyl respond until they try. So I'd say atleast give it a shot.

i would look for others reason with a good blood checking for defic, thyroids issues, setoronin levels etc

btw dht levels are not reliable, for their nature are very fluctuant during the day (if you check urself at 6am is gonna be very diff from 6 pm) so if you wanna know if its hormonal related you better control sexual precursors, like androstenedione and androsterone.
then you can decide (if your sexual hormones are that low at 20 i dont think your doct would prescribe it)

I go to the endocrinologist for hypogonadism and I treat it with hcg. She said she didn't think I was losing hair but I'f I was she would prescribe me finasteride. so I guess I'm good.
