always had decent hair up until August last year. Shed so much hair in a 3 week span so here we are. My question can finasteride regrow the miniaturized hair I have. Also should mention I visited a trichologist and got blood work done. Turns out I have dangerously low Vitamin D. Doctor said it’s 100% vitamin d deficiency causing this and I should eat vitamins D for 6 months and my hair should be back to as they were before. I’ve been eating it but I’m not so hopeful on that at all so I’m thinking about finasteride. Let me know if you guys think if finasteride is the way or stick to vitamin d.

**Note** Pics were taken when I had unnecessary amount of Castor oil in my hair

Stick to finasteride. You’ll probably regain some hair, or at the very least maintain what you have for a long time. Even if you just maintain, your dry hair seems fine so you’re good to go

If you have miniaturized hair then vitamin D deficiency wouldn't be the problem. Lack of proper nutrition will cause hair loss but won't cause hair to miniaturize.

I think so, hair miniaturizing is related to androgenic alpoecia
for the op do you have family history of balding?

But when I grow my hair I can clearly see the miniaturization is only in one part of the hair. I can draw an imaginary circle around it because there is no minituzation outside of it

Yeah, that's how it works. I only have miniaturized hairs above my temples and on the crown of my head.

Yes, absolutely, or some other alopecia.
Thank you! You’re the first person on here to agree with me that it could be something else. Everyone else jumps to male pattern baldness. I’m not denying it can’t be male pattern baldness but as I mentioned before the region of my lost hair is in only in one particular area. What other alopecia could it be? Also what’s the best option to go about treating it. Oral steroid? RU58841? Or anything else

They call it "male PATTERN baldness" for a reason. If it's not the pattern, or even close it it, then it's probably something else.
