Hey guys, just registered today...was reading through the forums all last night and theres some very troubled people who i feel for very much...ive been losing my hair since i was around 18...i used to have long hair...took me ages to grow and i was so proud of it...then one day my cousin said to me 'your going bald mate i can see your scalp through your hair' and truthfully enough i certainly was..id just never really noticed it because my hair covered it...anywayz...ive been shaving my head now for the last 6 months aw so...it doesnt really look that bad...you just have to get used too it...BUT i came across a picture of me when i had shorter hair even though my hairline had still receded and i was wondering weather i look better with it shaved aw without...i cant really decide...so theres 2 pics here of me...shaved head and unshaved...so any opinions and what you think looks best...thanks guys....and keep posting...the forums are brilliant!!!

I think you could carry off the shaved looked OK. Just go for that and maybe get on Propecia to maintain what you have for a while longer - shaved is always better if you have a little something to show once in a while.

Personally, from those photos, I think the shaved look actually draws a bit more attention to your temples. Your hair looks of decent thickness in the first pic. Why not grow it out a bit and style it? You can take the attention off your temples that way. Think Jud Law, except not as far down the line! :p

Hey guys..thanks for the reply's im gonna grow it out a little to see how it looks..if im not happy i can shave it...as either way doesnt bother me....BUT i would just like to say to people that are having a real hard time with coming to terms with there hair loss

...iam only 23yr old myself...im heavly into the whole rock scene and i loved having long hair when i was younger and felt devasted when it had to go...but you know what...after a while it doesnt seem that bad...i just think to myself...i wasnt ment to have long hair aw a full head of hair and so i just accept what i have....the shaved look i think is actually pretty cool...over the past few days ive actually seen loads of guys with shaved heads

and the whole girl issue....sure some girls like hair...but some girls dont care...so dont feel unattractive because your hair isnt the way you'd like it....as time goes on you do become used to how your hair is...i used to cover mine up all the time when it was long...and mess about with it and cover the bald parts...but evetually i just thought the hell with it....im probably a little more mature for my age than most guys...and to be honest ive got alot of other issues in my life to worry about and hairloss is no longer one of them....just go out there and get on with your life and just think 'to hell with everyone else' its hard to do but as time goes on it gets much much easier

you'll look back one day and wonder why you wasted so much time worrying about your hair when you coulda been doing other things you enjoy..like listening to music...playing computer games...have a drink down the pub etc... i really hope that the people who are having real problems try and get yourself some help...and try think a little more postively about things even though it may seem impossible it really isnt...thanks everyone and more opionions are welcome! thank you.

The first picture of you (with longer hair [although still short]) totally makes me think of Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting.

And he was pretty a badass heroine user in that movie.

Which is basically "rock scene".

God, what is it about British people where they can pull of a receding hairling just because they use the word "mate"?

In the first picture you have decent thickness.

Guys that are completely shaved either remind me of

Vin Diesal, if they are tanned.

A gross metal-fan/some nerdy Dungeons and Dragons player if they are pale.

Or like they should go out, buy some circular framed sunglasses, get a beatnik beret, and go to a spoken verse poetry club.

No exceptions to these rules.

Your hair looks much better grown out, I'd think about treatment if I were you.

Im not too sure if treatments are really for me...if i could keep what ive got then that would be fine..im not too bothered about trying to grow hair back...what would i be looking for treatment wise to just keep my hair the way it is???

you could go to u unitedpharmacies.com or inhousepharmacy.com and buy the generic form of propecia. Either finpecia or if you want to get even cheaper by the 5 mgs of Fincar and cut it into 4ths. You're probably thinking about the legitimacy of the generics over the name brand, lets just the majority of the people in this forum use a form of the generics and are getting fantastic results.

It looks better grown out I think but either looks fine.

I'm not queer or anything but you're a nice looking bloke, you could easily get girls so you should have nothing to worry about.

But if I were you I WOULD get on treatments before it gets any worse, the biggest regret in my life is not getting on Propecia sooner because I've maintaned so well... if it wasn't for finasteride, I'd be bald now. Simple as that.

Yep it's 40 quid a month but worth every penny, getting a prescription from my GP was a LOT of hard work though... that's another story.

Welcome aboard and good luck mate.

Welcome,
and for the record, I think you look like a champ with it shaved! Be proud!

Use the treatment and keep it bic'd! Looking good, brother.

I'd say grow your hair out and get it cut once in a while so you have fresh hair to work with. I had mine dyed about 9 months ago so I like to get it cut so that i can get my old hair color back. Its good for you to get your hair cut once about every 1-2 months. I'd say get on propecia to maintain what you have. Best of luck

Damn, you look so much better than me, just a little bit older than your actual age. Rather 27,28.

The first pic looks much better to me. Grow it out. At least you still have a decent thickness. That´s very important. Time to start treatment! Good Luck, mate!

re:

I think it is clear that either look suits you well, so I think it is really up to you as far as what you are most comfortable with. I would give a slight edge to the shaved look as that look is becoming more acceptable in the "rock" scene as it is sort of a badass look which is cool even if you are not a badass. It is a very clean look and chicks seem to really dig it.
I for one have decided to keep my hair pretty short for some time and I kind of like juxtaposing a really short look (say 3mm) with a little longer look (say 9-12 mm). But I am sort of obsessed with variety.
