Can someone explain this whole Propecia impotence thing?

I'm clearly not impotent, but have experienced some issues related to sexual drive and arousal...anyone else? Seventh month using it...just experiencing these problems now.

Thats kinda strange. I just finished a post basically asking the same question. I started on proscar a little over a month ago and haven't really noticed any change. I could possibly have a little less drive but it could also be in my mind.

It may all be just in my head, but I think my sex drive has increased on this stuff

I kinda thought that during the first few weeks but don't anymore. Plus, you know how springtime is for the libedo.

like ol'macdee, i also thought i had a drop in libido during my first couple weeks on finasteride. it might have been in my head, but i don't think so. anyhow, the good news is that it went back up again, although having somewhat of a low sex drive would not be the end of the world for me anyway. i see guys all the time that quit finasteride because it lowered their sex drive... i just don't get that. i'd gladly give away some sex drive for some hair any day.

Except for a sudden drop between week 6 and 10, my libido has gone crescendo while on propecia.

I honestly think it is in your head.

I would love to do a double-blind study on people taking finasteride but tell the volunteers in the study that the pill they were taking was a vitamin pill or a herbal pill.

The results would be very interesting. I'll bet the side-effects reported would very few and far between.

It would also cut out any possible placebo-effect and any psychological issues that may effect results.

There are difficulties that would arise in measuring baseline/haircounts etc though.

It doesn't matter how hard you try your dick stays kinda soft. It also feels detached. No feeling...

But it soon wears off....

That happened to me once about 2 weeks after I started finasteride. It hasn't happened again though, and I just kinda shrugged it off. Everything seems back to normal again now though. I will admit that I was insanely scared of side effects at that time, and was almost convinced that propecia would make me grow D-cup tits and cause my dick to shrivel up and die, so maybe it was all in my head.

It happend to me at about month 7-8, then it went back to normal. I have been without finasteride for 5 days now and I noticed my dick feeling strange. I get a new batch tomorrow...

No doubt loss of libido can be a problem on finasteride and dutasteride.

I've found yohimbine really helps with libido and that seems to solve the erection hardness issue itself.

If soft erections is your only worry I've found arginine in large doses (at least 3 grams) and cialis both help.
