Can Someone Fill Me In On Soy? Is It Good Or Bad For You?

I've read some articles saying that soy can cause hypothyroidism which can lead to hair loss. I've read other articles saying soy can actually block DHT. I've been avoiding everything that contains soy because I'm not sure if it is good or bad for the hair. Can someone fill me in?

Soy is a source of equol, which is a DHT inhibitor afaik, the major active ingredient in Brotzu's potion.

If certainly isn't going to hurt.

So I should start incorporating soy into my diet? Is there a good type of soy and a bad type I should stay away from? I know a lot of fast food places use soybean oil in their foods. A lot of candies also contain soy lecithin. Are these bad or good?

No idea about the specifics. I think soy may mimic certain female hormones though. Stuff like natto and miso soup should be good sources.

This study shows that the regular consumption of soy bean drinks is correlated with a much lower chance of developing severe or moderate Androgenetic Alopecia.

In addition, compared with subjects who rarely drink soy bean products, regular soy bean drinkers (at least 1–3 days per week) had an odds ratio of 0.04 (P = 0.04) for developing moderate to severe Androgenetic Alopecia.

I try and consume soy in moderation. There's a lot of conflicting data on it which I never got around to parsing.

Check the labels on soy milk, they each mean something else. Some of them have tons of added sugar.

I drink soy milk in the morning (Alpro brand from Belgium). It comes in chocolate flavor.
It is a different taste than cow milk but you get used.

Isn't also soy involved in oestrogenisation?

People in my gym say stay away from Soy protein because it's bad for gains and can lead to gyno. Although the gym is like the library for bro-science.

I've read that soy products can marginally slow down breast cancer when consumed in massive quantities, so not relevant.

Phytoestrogens are also not estrogens !

Could someone familiar with statistics help me understand this chart? I can't tell if someone who never consumes cheese is more likely or less likely to develop alopecia than someone who eats it frequently or vice versa.
