What is the likelihood of going bald if your dad and grandparents are bald?
What is the likelihood of not going bald if your dad and grandparents are bald?

I'm in neither of these situations but from personal experience what are your observations? Does anyone know any interesting studies I can read?

Maybe your daddy isn't exactly your daddy.

1-2% chance of that. Ie. Your mom's a wh***. (Sorry.)

Otherwise yeah it can just be random chance. Hair loss is complicated.

Thanks for the response. That's what I've been noticing too. I have a cousin who has at 30 has perfect hair and his brother at 25 is a NW7. I've been told I was going to bald early (moms family has male pattern baldness) but when I posted on this site, I was told I have no hair loss.

Totally random. obviously higher chances if there is a history, but genetics are a complicated and often cruel mistress.

I have a cousin on my dad’s side who was a full NW6 by 30. His dad, both his grandpas, and all his uncles, including my including my father, all kept a full head of hair into their 60’s, and I only say that because my dad and his little brother are still currently in their 60’s. Everyone else made it to their 80’s. The only balding he had anywhere in his family was his great uncle.

Even if you have a good family history, you can never be certain.

No one on my family on both sides was higher than NW3, even my grandfather who was 90 years old.

I was headed to Norwood 5/6 at age 25. Feels bad man.

I haven’t passed the point of no return yet. Despite having pretty good hair genes, there are no NW1’s in my family. On the other hand, almost everyone has a NW2 into old age except for my maternal grandfather and one of my six maternal uncles. So far my pattern is following my dads but we’ll see.
