Hi all, been a while since I've posted. Need some help with a few subjects.

Well, I'm planning on buying some 5% minoxidil foam tonight, but I was wondering about a few things. Is it safe to apply it to the hairline? The bottle specifically states don't use it anywhere but the crown. Are there any adverse effects to this? I mean, it won't speed up my recession will it?

And to those who do use minoxidil on the hairline, how much do you use? The whole capful like the bottle says for the crown? More? Less? How positive are the results you've gotten, if any?

Also, I've been on Nizoral for about two months now. I'm using the 1% soultion, is that too low of a strength? It doesn't seem to be helping any :(

I really, really, really need to start finasteride. I'm just really unsure of where to go to get a prescription. I got a consultation with Bosley, and they told me that to get prescribed, I'd have to go to Chicago! (5 hours away!)
Is there any way I can get around the prescription and order it online or something?

Also, how effective is finasteride in combatting the receding hairline? Any figures you guys can give me?

Also, for future planning. Anyone know a good price figure on hair transplants? Are they ridiculously expensive?

And, something I noticed in myself, and I know it sounds foolish. I'm Italian, and very embarassed of my immense amount of body hair. So, I shaved it all off for about my entire highschool years. When I got to college, I quit shaving. That's when I noticed my hairline receding. About 6-8 months later. I started shaving again when it got warmer, and well, it's been about another 6 months and the recession has slowed down greatly, and I'm seeing some vellous hair on my temples that didn't used to be there. I was wondering if the shaving had any effect.

I did some research, and apparently good signs of DHT's affecting the body are things like chest and pubic hair. I got to thinking, and yeah, I know this is farfetched, but.... The DHT that causes hairloss is unused/needed DHT just floating around the body right? Well, by shaving my body hair, is it possible that I've caused a greater need for DHT in those areas? Even if not... maybe blocking DHT isn't the full answer, maybe Blocking and Re-routing the DHT by putting it to use in the body is the answer?

Anyways, I should have pictures up tonight for some advice.

Thanks much guys, I appreciate you just reading this.

i really wish you were right! blocking dht isnt the whole answer but
at the moment no one knows for sure even people who research ir for
a living. it is getting narrowed down though it seems.

shaving your hair wont have any effect on how the androgens in your
body work and unfortunately the vellus hairs youre seeing are the old hairs dying as the follicles shrink not new ones.

yeah you can use minoxidil on the hairline most people do just see how much
you think you need its something you get better at with practice.i still use way to much so im not really the best person to ask just do your best
with it. good luck.

No, that's not correct. I think the evidence indicates that the vast majority of the DHT that affects hair follicles is DHT that's manufactured right there inside the follicle.

Even if your theory in the first paragraph above were correct, shaving body hair doesn't get rid of the hair follicles, so that wouldn't alter the "consumption" of DHT (so-to-speak) that's "floating around the body".

using finasteride might help with reducing body hair ,so you might get that as a bonus

finasteride will halt your hairline where it is.

If I get a transplant which I will as soon as I have the money or the credit I am pretty positive I will go with Armani or Wonn. Somebody freaking good though.
