Hey!

I know I've had some kind of a receding hairline last years (I'm 17 right now) because I couldn't style some special hairstyles, but I've never put any attention to that. Lately though I've realized that it's probably a sign for hair loss though. I looked through some old pictures and IMO it looks like I've had a receding hairline since forever. Also, I know that I've had kinda thin hair for a long time. My dad started losing hair at 16-17 :/ None from my mother's side from what I know atleast

My hair right now (age 17):

Sorry for bad pictures

You can have a widow's peak from a very young age (or birth I imagine) as it is genetic. I remember a bio teacher telling me that having a widow's peak in high school didn't bode well for my hair longevity, no idea if this is actually true.

But here I am, so he may be on to something.

You cant have receeded temples from birth. Some babies/todders have weak/odd hair as part of development. There are only widows peaks. You definitely have male pattern baldness

Well, ****. Don't you think my hairline looks pretty bad even at 6 though? Also, what am I suppoed to do at the age of 17? I've not seen any other signs of hairloss more than 10-15~ hair when applying schampoo

when im applying schampoo i only see 2-5 hairs(somethimes nothing) so trust me its not a decent tool to check hair loss

Looks like male pattern baldness to me, your temples have recessed quiet far for such a young age.

It looks like male pattern baldness to me, but to answer your question I do think you can have a hairline that looks like it has receeded since birth. my little brother when he was young used to pull at his hairline and twirl it and as a result he now has a more shiny forehead because the hairline is higher lol

Not sure, Finer hair at the temples in a NW3 pattern maybe as part of development but no full on bald at the temples. You have severe hair loss for only 17 but that could be because you had finer hairs at the temples anyway and so it didn't take much for the finer hair to die off and fall out. Also don't listen you the people saying "get on finasteride" because you have to be 18 or over to use it and a doctor would not prescribe it to you. Minoxidil you can try though

I know I'm like 6 months too late, but I have some things to say about this. People can be born with NW3. That's actually possible. I've been NW3 as long as I can remember, and now I'm almost 21 and my hairline hasn't changed a bit. Look at people like Jack Nicholson. He has been a NW3 his entire life. I'd love to hear how your doing and if something has changed since you started this topic!

Thanks for your answer. I'm afraid that I am not one of them. I have similar hairline as I posted 6 months ago, but I'm defo losing hair. More than before. I have accepted my destiny hehe. It is still kinda thick though. To be honest i can't be arsed taking minoxidil twice everyday and take drugs which may have bad effects. I will rather go bald. It's kinda sad that my grandpa still has decent hair at 70 but I'll be bald at 20 tho lol.

I think Jack Nicholson has male pattern baldness in some way. There is no way you can have such a hair line since birth. I know has pretty much the same hairline since like forever but NW3 like hairline since birth is extreme.
