Can't even shave my head...

Yep. Seems like being horrifically bald at 22 wasn't enough I also have to have a freak head shape. Instead of having a round head like 99% of other people on the planet I have this ridge on the top of my head that almost seems to form a perfect 90 degree angle leaving me looking like a conehead (pic related). I mean, I look like I should belong in a circus freakshow. I honestly don't know what to do. I'm pretty damn broke working a ****ty job and unable to get any sort of hair transplant although I doubt I would be a viable candidate even if I could afford one. I tried all the different meds which did absolutely nothing. I seem to have just been blessed with a very aggressive form of baldness that is immune to any sort of treatments. All I wanted to do was buzz my head and attempt to look halfway decent but it looks like that won't even be an option. My life wasn't all that great to begin with but I feel like this rampant hair loss is the final nail in the coffin for meJust doomed to be alone for the rest of my life. Sorry about all the whining but I just had to vent.

Is a hair system an option? Btw, many people have that head shape and look ok shaven. It looks way better than the bulbous ones I see.

It's only an issue if you have an alien/light bulb head shape.

Sorry about your bad hair luck :( Did you try the treatments while you still had some hair? It's a lot easier to maintain than regrow. Sadly some people's hair loss is too aggressive for even maintaining though... I am one! On the "bright" side, I went to a family get together today (painful showing up with my horrible hair), and there is a guy who is dating my cousin who has the exact head shape you drew and his head is also abnormally small. He's a slick NW7 in his late 20's and he still was able to pull off my cousin which is an attractive woman. He doesn't look all that bad despite his hair loss and head shape.

Im not sure if hair systems are the answer I mean your still bald at the end of the day and if you wore one the rest of your life it would probably equal the price of about 10 hair transplants. I'm just like you though my head shape is pathetic so baldness or shaving my head just isn't an option I cant even wear a baseball hat cos my heads so small it looks ridiculous . What meds did you try finasteride, dutasteride, RU ? I would personally give them another go and hope you can maintain for a while. If you can convince a hair transplant surgeon that your hair loss is at least stable and your on finasteride/dutasteride etc then you can get at least some of your hair back through surgery. If you hang in there for another six years or so we may have more options then. Remain positive bro!

Most of the guys(myself included) who hate going bald over exaggerate how bad their head shape. We just hate the fact of being bald so much that we sort of pile on to make ourselves feel worse. I hate my head shape and don't even want to think of the day where I have to start taking a razor to it, but I am sure my head isn't as bad as I think it is. I just wont like what I see in the mirror, but I don't think I will look like a circus freak, just like another bad looking guy.

Sorry about your hair loss though. Another tragic story.

This is a tragic story. Another person's life ruined. Baldness is accebtable, unless it occurs unreasonably early, in which case it turns your life into a nightmare!

If I could make a wish, I'd wish that male pattern baldness never developed! It is ruining too many lives...

indeed.

I was hit early at 23, now 38. Age might make it more acceptable, but it still makes you look like S#!t. It sucks when hair loss is pretty much the only thing holding your looks back. Many young guys think that all of a sudden when you hit 30 you are going to be like "Oh well I am 30 my life is over, who cares if I go bald and let myself go", but unfortunately this isn't the case. Yes I will admit it was no fun dealing with this in my 20's, but dealing with this crap in my 30's is no picnic either.

Yes that is true but when your in your early twenties and you are the only person you know who is losing your hair that makes it especially painful. Especially for me since I'm nw3 and still at college ! I'm surrounded by nw1s and the days are excruciatingly painful. At least when you hit 30 your surrounded by guys in a similar situation . Right now I feel like a complete freak.

It is hard at any age to lose hair, that is true. But losing hair at 19/20 is wrong. At that age you do not have a stable job and your life is quite messed up, but that is compensed by the fact that you have youth. Guys balding that early have nothing. When you are in your mid 30s, you at least have your life together and nobody focuses on looks as much as at high school/university.

Oh how wrong you are...

The truth is, it doesn't get any easier with age. You'll pretty much always feel like a freak, baldness is an oddity and having hair is normal. Not the other way around.

I disagree. Going bald later in life is much better than going bald young, when you need your hair the most. If you go bald later in life you have more likely found someone, done with studies and parties, got your **** together etc. Going bald in teens and early twenties is hell because you are more than likely the only one, or one of few, and you stick out like a sore thumb. For you men it gets more normal to lose hair as you age. So you're not that oddball amymore. But I agree baldness is an oddity and not normal nevertheless and it sucks losing hair at any age. BUT it's a LOT WORSE when you are young.

You get my point, the earlier it starts the weirder it is. 20 years old NW5 looks alot weirder than 35 years old NW5.

Well that's true. But you won't be happy with either situations.

I think we can all agree that we prefer going bald when we are 30-35 then 20-27 years old.

You should get into the world and meet more people. Do you think "having your life together" in your mid-30's is the norm?

You never have everything neat and tidy in your life, you always evolve, learn from experiences etc.

Like Notcool said, you seem to think that once you reach a certain age, you stop caring about everything.

Something like "Hey I'm 35 now, I should be settled, and I am, I guess my life is a success, I guess I don't have to improve anymore and expect anything new."

This is a mistake, and I'm glad we have older people on the forum to point it to us. Life doesn't stop at 30, or 40.

My grandfather told me he wanted to whiten his teeth, and he's 86.

If you're a sane person, you'll always try to be your best self at any age, whether it's physically or mentally.

Right on, Fred. Well said and very true.

I think this pretty normal, head skull is not perfectly round like they say. Shave to zero and it is done
