I've had a look at this website a couple of times in the past and thought I might as well post a message. I'm 42, UK based and my hair is receeding and getting thinner on top, so just about like half the male adult population for my age lol. My age doesn't bother me as I'm in good shape but losing my hair is a worry as it changes my look and I feel less confident for it.

I wouldn't consider raising the issue with anyone in the "real world" as I'd just get ribbed for it particularly at the office where it's usual to slag people off about such shortcomings and I've been guilty in the past myself.

My dear old Dad still has a full head of hair and I thought as a kid I would be allright too but I now realise the maternal grandfather was bald about age 25 so maybe thats the critical factor? :)

I learned about Minixidol marketed as "Regaine" in the UK about 5 years ago and have been using it off and on. I've regularly used Propecia on prescription from my GP since May 2002. I don't think the problem's any worse but it's not better. I was uncomfortable going to my GP at first but he was quite helpful.

I reduced Regaine use to once a day when starting the Propecia tablets. Maybe I should use it twice a day as well as the propecia. The only other thing I use once a week is Nizoral which I believes helps the effectiveness of Monoxidil.

In a way I feel I may well just be making healthy profits for the pharmaceutical industy because how do you know if you're better off with it than without? I guess I do feel better doing something than nothing!

28 propecia tablets on prescription in the UK costs £36. I've no idea if thats a good price or not and a Minxidol 3 month supply is £70.

I maintain a healthy attitude about the situation and try to see the humour in it, you've got to! but it does affect my feelings about how I look as I've taken it for granted in the past that women found me attractive but fear this may fade - being single I guess it's on my mind. Tale of woe over.

I thought it might be a good idea to share some views on a subject I don't get a chance to talk about!

So Hi everone! :D

Oh and my name is from the movie "Get Carter" Which I spotted on my DVD shelf thats the original not the remake 8)

I get 6 months supply of proscar (propecia) from drugshipper.com for about 60.00 GBP. Try that option. As for the hair, well its gonna be tough to stop the relentess onset of baldness but like u say u will feel a lot worse if u do nothing at all. I think acceptance is the only way to handle the whole hair thing otherwise it will drive u insane in the end! :p good luck

I've had great results with minoxidil and propecia.

However, i would never ever in a million years pay £36 for a pack of 28 pills!.

I get mine from http://www.inhousepharmacy.com. Paid £56 (+£13 in customs charge) for 180 finpecia pills (generic propecia. Same ingredients, different name). And I buy 4 bottles of Kirkland Minoxidil (made by same people as Regaine) for £25. A bottle of nizoral costs £8 from boots and lasts me about 2 months or so.

So I pay roughly £19 a month for my hair regimen....Not too bad if you ask me :)

You said you use minoxidil on and off....That won't do you any good. Either you use it or you don't. If you use it on and off you will not get the result you want.

Thanks Minge and Baldie - I never considered buying elsewhere in case I was buying something "dodgy" which might damage my health plus concern I might not see my money again. The possibility of internally taking something which might damage my health was a big concern.

I checked out the websites recommended, Inhouse Pharmacy shows the cost of Finasteride in GBP as you say Baldie at less than a third of the cost I'm paying.

If this is genuine as it seems I would be foolish to continue with my prescription at Boots as clearly if this is the equivalent then I am paying well over the odds.

Yes £19 per month is nothing at all compared to £60 in total with propecia and minoxidil!
