I'm a little confused here.....so are there two different companies working on this, or what? And that would essentially mean a cheaper procedure, right?

There's two main ones Intercytex and Aderans. Both are pushing through trials. There's other companies but a lot is kept secret so it's unknown how far along they are.

Chewy - Im taking about a donor area that thins ALMOST to male pattern baldness standards, thats what my dads hairloss is like. I'm wondering if like him I will have no DHT resistant hair (clap your hands and say yeah!)

You're kind of screwed if the hair all over your head falls out. I guess you could ask them to clone some of your pubes but good luck styling that.

But I really don't want a transplant, I'd like the HM procedure to get my hairline and other thinning parts back. Can that be possible? Oh damn, I'm excited. I've said it before I want to grow my hair like Edward Carnby from Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare!

Marketing info is limited right now so it's unknown. Even if it is a combo pack im sure if you pay the price of the hair transplant they'll let you skip it if you want and go right to hm.

I could see some Doctor's wanting to give you a higher hair line to make it look more 'natural', but sh!t if it's going to cost me over 20k i'm getting the hair i want. I will even throw a farewell party for my chrome dome.

According to intercytex you could grow a full head of hair for less than half that. Pricing is one of their key points, they always point out that hair transplant is very expensive compared to what their HM can offer. Of course final pricing will depend on the marketing guys.

This is all getting me pretty fired up!!! To think that (hopefully) in around 2 years the long awaited solution could be here.

Question out of curiosity for those who plan on using this: How long after it becomes available do you plan on waiting? Will you go right in right away or will you wait a while to see some results from others??

When/if this becomes available, is it for life or is it a short term fix, i.e, needs to be done again every couple of years?

nice to see so many ENTHUSIASTIC people for once, most of this forum is a real downer (yet supportive, don't get me wrong :) )

Any link to a press release or something or do we all have to call bosley and check out this info?

I'll be the guy camping outside the clinic two weeks before it's release.... seriously as soon as HM comes out i'll be there. I have a feeling theres going to be a waiting list to get the stuff done.

I phoned the company about phase 2 and was told that they aren't looking for volunteers just yet, but to keep an eye on the website. They sound really genuine and upbeat, and it is great to know that the UK may be leading the field yet again, I do hope so.

Sweet!!! Actually, their Boston location is about 5 minutes from my house, so I'm close also.

So when they actually want volunteers, are they going to actually want to perform the entire procedure on people who volunteer? If so, where the hell do I sign...

So let me get some facts straight:

You can eitheir do hair transplant or HM or do you have to do both?

If you are already bald like a norwood 7 or 8 how will they do the procedure...take one hair from your side of the head which is the most resistant then clone that hair in the lab and then inject millions of those cloned hairs in your head and then those hairs will grow and puff you have hair all over your head?

Do you still need to use finasteride and minoxidil? I guess so since the top of the head isn´t resistant to dht making those cloned hair fall-out thus making you go back to the clinic and do another HM procedure costing you the same amount of money as the 1st procedure?

you do understand that if you become part of the trial group you'll have to cease all other treatments. and then you've got a 50% chance of getting a placebo. if they even let you in the trial because i think they'd want people who's hairloss has been untreated up to this point.

I don't think they will have placebo's with HM. It's not a drug, and there would be no use because it would be obvious who is placebo and who is not.

good point, didnt really think about that. how will they structure the trials then do you think? you'll definately have to stop all other treatments at the very least. i wonder how you do a double blind trial with something like this

The cloned hairs will be permanent and not fall out...

The hair follicle itself is the problem not the scalp or skin...

It should be the full procedure. Phase 3 is basically the same thing but on a wider number of people so if phase 2 goes over fine the third will take no time at all.

I doubt you'll be able to get in trials though, i've talked to them before and they say there is no shortage of demand to take part. I have a feeling all the spots will be taken before the website even gets updated.

Marketing details will come later. Right now there's a combo hair transplant+HM deal planned and plans for a stand alone HM package at some point. It's going to be a while before we get final information since nothing is set in stone yet.

They take more than one hair, but thats basically the idea.

The hair shouldn't fall out since it's copies of the hairs growing on the back of your head.

The requirements are different for cosmetic surgery so it's hard to say if they need a double blind trial. They're main focus is to show that HM works without making your head explode.
