Hey everyone! I would like to share my experience here to see if someone went through the same problems and could give me some advice or just chat.

I am from Brazil and the water there is soft. I used to have very oily hair so considering the soft water I could use my shampoo for hairloss with LSL without issues. I also took saw palmetto for 2 years combined with topical minoxidil 5%. Finally, I used to have my scalp "ionized" every once in a while (in this procedure you hold an electrode while someone goes with the other electrode in your scalp and you receive little shocks. The current flows in and out of your scalp carrying nutrients that are added to the scalp by the professional). This regimen worked wonderfully! I had hair growing everywhere, tiny/medium ones, but they were a lot and I couldn't see my scalp. Hair loss was under control.

So then I moved to the Netherlands in August of last year. The water here is hard, so the consequences were rough. Minoxidil would create an immense amount of flaking and itching, so I had to stop. My scalp got dryer and I couldn't use my good old shampoo anymore. Had to change to this overpriced Regenepure that, honestly, doesn't do much besides being less aggressive (I would love a cheaper alternative just to make my scalp free of itching and flaking). Using cetoconazol shampoos just aggravate the problem, while in Brazil I used to apply them without a problem.

I got desperate last year, when seeing my hair coming out in my hands in the shower, so I started with Finasteride and changed the shampoo. Nowadays I can see my scalp, all my hair regrowth went to the drain and I am very unhappy with taking finasteride, since I very much dislike the fact that my semen is liquid.

Now what to do?! I wanna quit finasteride, but afraid of start losing more. I am even thinking about going back to Brazil just because of my hair, but the country sucks and I really don't wanna do this. Hard water is so bad and I can't do anything about it. I just bought a low alcohol minoxidil to try and will hopefully work, but I am afraid it will itch. I reeally wanna go back to saw palmetto and saw this Neofolics formula that has saw palmetto in it and seems high quality since it is a Dutch company, but not sure, it is also very expensive.

Please guys, share your opinions! ;)

Oi! I tried Rogaine foam, it also caused itching :/ Really hope this low alcohol will solve the issue, since minoxidil helps a looot.

2 things work - finasteride and minoxidil. Whatever you do I would not remove either of these or your hair loss problems will get worse before better. The rest of it like minerals in water and that is just a pipe dream. Water does not cause male pattern baldness so if your losing hair you have male pattern baldness.

You don't quite get what I said, do you? I've never said hard water is the root of the problem. I said it did cause my treatment to be interrupted, which destroyed my gains. It was a very clear the shift. I have several Brazilian friends, male and female, that complain on how European water affected their hair negatively. Now I've been taking finasteride for more than 6 months and the results are ridiculously worse than compared to what I did before. And by the way, improving scalp health (by eliminating flaking, itching and etc, however possible) also works , you missed this one.

Maybe you could wear a shower cap, and invest in a water distiller and use that to wash your hair.

I remember my father having trouble styling his hair after showering interstate.

So he took bottled water with him and washed his hair with the bottled stuff.

He said the bottled water was much better than the flat water from the taps.

Yeah, I will have to invest in one distiller at some point if I wanna keep living here. Anny recommendations regarding the distiller?
Great advice by the way! Thank you very much! What a hassle though...
