Clinical trials?

Hey everyone,
Just wondering how one goes about getting involved in hairloss clinical trials, or whether there are even any possibly useful clinical trials going on. I assume you probably just have to be lucky and live near the place where the trials are being performed, but just thought I'd ask. And is anyone on here involved in any trials right now?

you should volunteer for a clinical trial.

then you can keep us posted with the results and at the same time, answer your own question! it's amazin' isn't it.

Uh, that's my question...how do you get involved. Is there a directory somewhere?

If you join a clinical trial as a participant you will have to stop using minoxidil and finasteride (or any other hair loss medication) as these would obviously skew the results leaving any conclusions and trial data worthless.

You will need to stop your medication months before the trial in case it has any long term influence on hair growth.

Then, when you join the trial you will be put in either the group using the new medication, the placebo group or possibly a non-medicated/non-placebo reference group.

So you may end up spending 18 months taking a sugar pill or even nothing at all, and this would be after six months free from any hair loss medication.

A friend of mine did some clinical trials for a huge comany in Leeds. They basically take people in, examine them and decide which trial they would be most suited for. He never got to choose which trail he took part in. I dont know if the same would apply to hairloss med trials.

Well basically, the accepted treatments haven't stopped my loss and I'm not in a financial position to go all out on the unproven stuff, so I would be willing to use nothing but the stuff being tested in the trial...but I'm guessing that hairloss trials aren't real widespread so I'll probably have trouble finding one.
